Anyone tried any "clone" keys?

I found this site and it offers quite a number of "blank" and some "programmable" "chipped" keys at very reasonable prices.

Anyone tell which one they would choose, if any, for their truck?

Supposedly you can program them in your truck if you have both original keys using a series of on/off key in key out steps.
Any comments/experiences?

Recently my DW misplaced the keys of our 2004 Sienna along with the control, I requested a quote from the local Dealer and it was $250.00+ USD for both key and remote control programmed. I finally got the remote control from a seller on e-bay for less than $30.00 USD and I did the programming (easy to do), BUT for the key I went and purchase the key from the Dealer and ask for "cutting it", I found several online places where they showed the steps to program the chip key either from an original or the vallet, either way should be programmed at the end, finally I decided to pay the dealer a reasonable price of $53.00 USD (tax included) for the key cut and programmed. I asked them about programming the key my self by doing some specific steps, first they agree that this can be done, but then they lower the quote price from almost $100.00 to $53.00... I did not bother going the long way (purchasing, programming my self off the Internet)...

keys... try to request a service from your local dealer.

 

what do yall mean by "chipped" keys?

 

From certain year to date, Toyota vehicles key started to include an internal chip and the "smart" key born, trying to start a vehicle with out one or a wrong one will be impossible, theft deterrent device at all.

 

All manufacturers I'm familiar with (Chrysler, GM, BMW, Merc, VW) have tiny transponders in the keys that report their serial number to the ignition. If the vehicle is programmed to start using that particular key, it starts. If not, it won't start. If you make a copy of your Taco key at Lowes it will unlock the doors and turn on the radio and lights, but no ignition. I bought a "dumb" key on purpose to keep in a lock box under the truck should I lock my keys inside... even if someone finds the key they can't start the engine.
