The Tacoma was due for its annual PA Inspection and an oil change - since it was at 39,192 miles I had them do the 40,000 mile service. I've put about 12,000 miles on it in the 7 years I've owned it. Everything looks great. Sitting in the car was an appraisal for $8500 on a trade - $500 more than last year.

This time next year, I will be selling/trading it. I'll be retiring from my current position - my second retirement - and whatever I replace this Tacoma with will become my primary driver. The access cab just won't work for me at that point. I'm leaning towards a new Tacoma - need some form of truck - but looking at other options, too.

I took the picture from my window in the office...and noticed the seatbelt caught in the door. Ooops!!

I bought an 04 4cyl 4x4 Ex cab with 46k on it for $15.5k 2 years ago. Whatever you do, sell locally and dont trade in.

Private party you'll get at least $10k for that thing, don't let them snag it from you

Private party for sure. I'm surprised you have the seatbelt issue at 40k. I just bought ordered one from a recycler. Mine's already shredding. 210k-ish on my 2002.

1st gen Tacomas are collector cars now. $8500 is lowball as phuck. Sell it on Bringatrailer.com instead.

The belt flips and doesn't retract all the time...and I typically forget to check it.

This is very true. BUT, the really good money only comes out for the 5 speeds. AND if the underside has anything more than the very lightest "patina," the Taco will receive critical commentary.

IMO, it's a great place to sell low mile, lifetime West coast Pickups/Tacos. And a bit of a crap shoot for anything else.

    Nice truck Mark

Keep it if you can even as a second vehicle, definitely don't trade it in. They'll give you $8,500 on a trade then list it for $16k would be my guess

    40k miles?!

    holy crap!

I had to do a double take and make sure with thread was getting necro-posted from 2006, lol

If that's a v6, your timing belt is due, even at 40k. Actually, it was due back in 2014... (belts should be replaced 90k or 9 years)

Right now it's a 4th vehicle. I have a vehicle provided through my job, my wife has her car and I have a '96 BMW Z3. We use the Tacoma for light hauling on our property and to chase hot air balloons as crew for a local company. No room to keep it.

Yup, planning on having it done this summer. I bought the truck 7 years ago - it had a little over 27k miles on it....and I am the 3rd owner. 39,197 when it went in the door at the dealer.

I thought I had low miles at 56k then I see this one, and the new guy @ace_10 has us both beat with only 6k on his '03!!

12k miles in 7 years? Do work from home and just pull out of your driveway and back in for a commute? Damn

How's the frame Mark? Gotta ask coming out of PA... if it's good you are looking at well above 10k for this truck. I bought mine three years ago for $8500 and 159K on the clock (but I've had to do some frame work...)

I got $18k for my 05 last year with double the miles. I'd probably see what you can get on your own. It makes sense to trade some vehicles in, others like yours, probably not.

Nice truck! You won't have any trouble selling it next year; your phone will be ringing off the hook as soon as you list it.
