what's the fastest you been on a sled? I gather there are some trails up north you guys can use all that power, but I'd just run right into a tree around here!

Yeah, unless you're on a lake. But if you get up into potato country or into the power lines in the Western mountains they've got some good long straightaways.

We took it easy. My wife and daughter made homemade meatballs so we had spaghetti and meatballs with some Italian bread. They also made a cake so we had cake and ice cream afterwards. My daughter drew me a card and glued rocks to it. She likes rocks. Lol
    I hear you there!
I've been over 100 mph on my sled and my sled is old.

I'm not sure if it's the fastest I've been but my new sled saw 104.2 on the GPS this year. That was before flashing the ECU and clutch work. To be honest I don't care if the sled goes much over 75 but I want it to get there in the absolute quickest it possibly can.

Like Noel said, Maine is crazy. The railbeds north of Presque Isle are wide and laser straight and flat as a pancake for literally miles. And no speed limits.

112 mph radar run on a lake in Canada on a friend's '95 Mach-Z back in the 90's.
Went over a buck a couple other times on a few Cat and Polaris machines.
Can't look at the speedo much at that speed.

That's how it is in and near Caribou ME. The trails are wide and straight and you can go as fast as you want until like me you start thinking what if a deer or a moose step out in front of me? That's when you start slowing down a bit. Lol

You've been over 100 indicated on the dreamo-meter. They are horribly inaccurate though. When my 800 XCSP used to indicate 115 it was actually under 100 on the GPS.

Like I said, dreamo-meter. Although radar?? That's pretty damn good. True 100+mph sleds are pretty rare beasts. Even my buddy on his new 850 short track 2 stroke can barely squeeze 105 on the GPS. Speedo indicated 125. And that's a 167 hp sled, pretty much top dog of the naturally aspirated.

Once the mods start happening anything is possible though. They can make them go pretty crazy fast. I like a bit of fast with a lot of reliability.

    Nope, true.
We were up at St. Zenon. The two guys I rode with had Z's. Identical builds and heavily modded for that era.

One guy was big and the other was light. Every time they traded sleds, the lighter guy would gain 3mph on the radar.
75 pounds made a difference speed wise..

I know how bad they are but mines only off about 5%. 105 = 100 by GPS on my sled. I've been up to 110 MPH (indicated) and it was still going up. I had my sled rebuilt by a guy that raced the Mach's and he had it tuned real good at the time. He said top speed of my sled in PERFECT conditions is about 117 MPH. Don't forget I have a Mach with the triple triples.

    Oh yeah, weight=horsepower. Big time.

Those triples are fast, that's for sure. And the sound! Sleds are actually getting slower for top speeds these days, you'd think otherwise but they keep getting longer and the track is so damn heavy that rotating weight affects top speeds severely. I think one of the fastest sleds I owned was my 95 XLT 600 triple. It weighed about 400 lbs with fuel and had this super light, thin track. It was so fast that it was hard to hold on to, but I didn't own a GPS back then so no idea what true top speed was.

    Those machines were quick.
My riding friend got one of the '94 XCR prototypes. Started it's life as a sno-cross factory sled.
    That machine was fun.

Just need to keep an eye skinned for the speed moose

Sounds like my boat. It had an old vacuum-operated speedometer when I bought it, and it told me that I was doing 35 while the GPS said 20
I yanked it and put a tachometer in there instead; much more useful.

Marchand making the SAME FCKING MISTAKE that led to a goal in game 5... 7 seconds left and you're going for a line change when you're on the puck carrier? You don't have 7 seconds?
