Yes. It is for a Sport Comp II gauge. Yes, it's old school.

No, I have no leaks from the adapter.

The wiring is running parallel to the transmission temperature gauge wiring, and that gauge works correctly.

They do offer a newer style sending unit - at almost triple the price.

yeah, ha. they tend to work better though imo.

how are you testing the sensor/gauge to verify they both work independently?

I never tested the sender - just replaced it.

I now have a chart of the expected output from Autometer - PSI to Ohms. I will disconnect the output wire, then attach a meter and verify the outputs.

Then I will need to rig up a simulated signal (+5v) for the gauge.

Ah i misread thinking you tested it not replaced. Still bet its the sensor then. Id recommend getting the higher end one personally

I have the same sandwich plate, facing 180 deg from yours with an AEM electronic oil sensor and haven't had the problems you described. Other than leaking a bit.

Which hole is your sensor in? Not that it should matter, I am just curious.

Given that this is an oil pressure gauge, I think you should figure this out like, yesterday. Behavior does point to something wrong with the gauge/sender/wiring though.

Well. Time to go back to the SS hose. The rubber hose I got is just as thick, if not thicker than the existing SS I have. So that won’t work.

But...the rubber hose is easier to bend so that could be a plus...

Silly idea time. What if I wrapped my meth tank with those heatshield stuff you guys were talking about a few days ago?

I don't see the value wrapping the meth tank as you're going to be trying to atomize it and seek the benefits of the phase change to a gas. There could be some very subtle benefits of it being cooler in liquid form but I'm not sure if you'd see the benefit. Now wrapping your inter cooler tank, I could see that. Just my 2 cents.

Edit: But, if you're worried about high temps and combustion or leaks around the tank. That's something I could get behind.

Well how about if I’m running just water? I’m running it strictly for cooling since these older units didn’t have an intercooler.

It's the phase change from liquid to gas that removes the heat energy. The temperature of the liquid itself probably has almost zero effect on the cooling. Did you get a meth kit? I'm in the process of installing one myself.

The lower temp will always help, but in reality youre not going to get anything measurable unless youre talking drastic temp changes

    Fantastic.

Okay it’s all coming back to me now. Back in my computer days when going to different levels of cooling you wouldn’t get any drastic change from water. But going from water to some type of extreme cooling, like dry ice, netted an increase. Course, the computer didn’t really last that long even with extreme cooling.

You should be running a little methanol for the maximum cooling effect that you're looking for.
