Looking to upgrade the exhaust.... Anyone have any pros/cons? I’ve always run flowmaster dual exhaust (coming from Dodge Ram 1500)

TRD exhaust is one piece, stainless steel, and no drone. Nice note when you get on the pedal.

The TRD exhaust is quiet. I see them around every so often and for the price, you're better off exploring other options. The AFE catback sounds sweet. Remember you can always have a muffler shop add a resonator if there is drone. A good one will cut almost all drone:

What are you looking for? Sound or power?

For sound keep it stock all the exhaust / muffler set ups on these trucks sound like junk for the most part.

For power, keep dreaming. No gainz here.

I'm satisfied with my TRD exhaust. Not too loud, no drone and has a nice deep tone.

Like others have mentioned, TRD exhaust is going to be quieter. I have an aFe and a TRD exhaust for my 2nd gen and they both sound good, but the aFe has some drone on the hwy. That was never a problem with the TRD catback. Id expect this to be similar on the 3rd gen trucks

    Also, welcome:cheers:

The best way to upgrade your exhaust is to cut the tail pipe after the axle bend.

don't follow others and assume their assumptions.

TRD Pro exhaust sounds pretty good and no drone, but also no obvious gain over a cheap stock setup. the muffler is hugely restrictive with the TRD kit. break it open and you'll find tons of media crap to block up the flow. and that's how it blocks up the sound, too.

you can do a full custom exhaust with an open flow design after the front cats and you won't throw a code, but if you remove those you will. that requires a URD Y-Pipe or similar which will remove your rear cats (no codes from rear cat removal). then you'll need open flow (non-media) exhaust components so the flow is unrestricted by the likes of steel wool, insulation, or ceramic. i use a Spintech muffler and 2 Vibrant resonators, and a j-pipe. flow and throttle response is a huge change from stock when you get it right. but these systems are not off the shelf, you need to make your own.

I run the Flowmaster Super44 single (just the box) and it sounds pretty good IMO having run multiple Tacomas.

It’s cheap ($100) and will give the same gains (if any) as any other exhaust under $750

Another member posted a good sound clip

The flowmaster sounds amazing, better than my mbrp. Wonder if there's any drone on the highway.

I don’t feel there is much. My wife thinks it’s pretty quiet while driving long distances

    Tip looks great.

Logo needs love though. Squished typography is a no no in the design world
