and that would cause a weird rattle on the passenger side during acceleration?

 

this is what i have, i am fairly certain

 

Go "persuade" your exhaust/cats with a few light taps from a mallet. Could be the beginnings of a bad cat, or loose heat shield/hanger.

 

and there is no noticeable rattle if I have not had the A/C on yet in the day, like today, cool and breezy out so no A/C on and no rattle

here is what I have, the plastic box

the stupid body shop messed up my rails, still working on getting those back to good

 

there is no noticeable rattle WHILE the A/C is on (so far) only after I shut it off to hit the city streets, but not all the time, its a weird gremlin

there does seem to be a slight loss of power while accelerating when A/C is on but might be normal, might be abnormal

 

i am thinking something to be resonating down the tubes that go into the evap coil behind the dash???
those tubes are hot or cold after A/C is turned off?

 

I've seen ac pulleys rattle if the magnet to clutch distance is gapped wrong. But it's uncommon

 

is the pulley still turning after A/C has been shut off?
maybe it is getting stuck?

 

The pulleys outer shell will turn but the center shouldn't.

 

thanks for help everybody, I will try some other diagnostics, trial and error

dealer mechanic won't even talk to me unless I pork over $150 upfront for a ride along

 

Thats weird. Mine will stare at it/test drive all day long for free, unless they hear the noise. Then the bill comes...

 

i know, it frustrates me to no end, they have my records of 'loyalty'

i think they want to do a whole A/C system level check or something, I just had that done 6 or 7yrs ago when it stopped blowing cold

 

I had my truck in several times for what ended up being post-lift kit vibrations. Never charged me a cent since they couldnt figure it out.
