Were dogs allowed to go on trails or did they have to stay at the site?

I took him. I believe you’re allowed in National Forrest but not National Parks.

Maybe not so much bored but excited.
I don’t know why I said “bored”. I hate it when people say that. Haha.

You camping in a stellar area after an anxious wait for the GFC. Bored is the goal.

Just installed the CaliRaised bed molle all the way around and will be installing the Prinsu Habitat rack tomorrow. My GFC should be ready in July. I hope when I get up to Bozeman for the install of the camper I will not have to do an uninstall of the molle or rack. Would be kind of an expensive screwup all because I had an itchy trigger finger.

does anyone know the actual height of the GFC on a first gen tundra?

there's not an antenna there, so i was hoping the overhang was slightly lower to the roof than the taco config...

#389 with my 05 and was hoping I can fit in my garage with my leveling kit!

    I’m loving it.

For the record, I closed 2 sleeping bags and 2 full-size pillows in it no problem. I’m going to try my 2 person sleeping bag when we get home. It’s thicker and would add more cushion.

My 05 (limited trim) fits in our garage! Barely, but it fits. I was really worried as I also have a leveling kit. The GCF fits tight to the top of the cab. Total truck height is around 83" (rough) garage is 84". I hope you have similar experience, as I was really stressed about it. Was going to have to sell my 96 Tacoma if it didn't to free up driveway space. The bomber/dog haul rig lives on!

Also, we really like the 2" mattress. Took a few nights to break in, but great after that.

We’ve slept 3 nights in ours since getting it. We have the 2” mattress. No complaints from us or the dog so far.
It’s like camping. Not my mattress at home but not like sleeping on the ground if you know what I mean.

Thanks! Yeah that is what I figured. I imagine it just mounts to the extrusion with track nuts?

    Hi All,

I debated about putting this post here vs. the suspension sub-forum, but figured this was GFC related enough.... Our camper (#265) is in the curing stage and I'm past due for thinking about suspension upgrades. Let me share some data, and then solicit suggestions.

    2017 SR5 V6 4WD with tow package
It's my daily driver, but we like to go to DV and the like when we have time off. No rock crawling, but plenty of long, wash-board roads. We live in a mountainous, rural locale in Trinity County, CA and also do plenty of rutted forest service roads.

I've read in many suspension threads to give Maria@Headstong a call and discuss needs, but Headstong is in the process of moving their warehouse, and their phone number has been (temporarily) removed from their website. There's also a note that replies to emails may take longer than usual. So I'm asking y'all.

    Look at these weight estimates:
    Camper: 275lbs
    Extra fuel/water/propane: 200lbs
    Food/cookware/misc.: 200 lbs
Adding a 1up hitch bike rack and 2 mt bikes within the next year: 110 lbs.
    Total: 785 lbs.

I'm looking at the Deaver stage III U402 leaf pack, but need advice on appropriate shocks for my stated needs. I imagine it's a subjective topic, but I'm asking anyway. I don't want to needlessly spend more than I have to just for bling-factor, but I'm willing to pay for quality that keeps our rig running well.

Thanks for reading all this; I'm looking forward to your input.

    A small tweak.
I noticed that the rubber washer that protects the rear slide lock from chaffing the tube has deteriorated. This has started to wear away the powder coating possibly creating a rust spot. I substituted a tough nylon washer which will hold up better to repeated usage.

Wouldn’t the rubber help prevent water from goin in the tube?

No, the slot cut in the tube is like 2” long so that gasket only cushions the set screw the other 1.8” in still fairly open to the elements.

You might be right but the slot is fully exposed to water too.
