I recorded this yesterday morning after sitting over night. As you can hear in the video, the sound goes away after 30 seconds or less.

Yup, that sounds like a dying throw out bearing to me.

With your truck being a 2015 the bearing should be in constant contact with the pressure plate so more than likely what you are hearing is that the grease is old and used up inside the bearing itself and it takes a minute to warm up what's left enough to create an oil film on the balls and begin to lubricate the race.

I cut up and took pictures of my old bearing for reference but took them off my phone already unfortunately so I can't show the internals until I have a chance to sit at my PC and upload them here.

I would prepare for a clutch job though.

Don't forget the rear main seal!

Leaking or not if you're pulling the trans and flywheel anyway it's cheap insurance.

I just did my whole clutch mainly just for the rear main because the PO didn't have it changed last time the clutch was done. Clutch puck was still in decent shape.

Hey @Key-Rei. I went through it and that is an absolutely outstanding document +10

Not to hijack your post here but I have had a lifetime of frustration with bad throwout bearings and have been known to do some very unconventional things. For sure do not do this, but I do. After finding way too many nearly dry new bearings I now use a vacuum pump and chamber to add additional grease to throwout bearings prior to install.

This technique evolved from a guy who was a mechanic and Baja race car builder and said he routinely first dunked the ones he was installing overnight in 30wt motor oil. Said hey lasted a very long time. Since I have vacuum-injected many bearings with great success I thought why not? Risky? Possibly, that is why I said don't do it. But I have monitored for grease leakage over long periods and not had an issue with mine. Having a super quiet T/O bearings is nice.

That's actually a novel idea. I wouldn't try it on a primarily street truck, too afraid of contamination of the disk on something I'm hoping lasts 100k before needing another replacement but I like the logic behind it!

this is a huge bummer for me to read. ive got less than 500 miles on my URD replacement and the squeak is back. unfortunately i didn't do the install because of a recent knee surgery. this is the 3rd TOB/clutch replacement this truck has had in 100k miles trying to get rid of the noise
