You could have a quick drain on your meth system. Then keep a gallon in the freezer overnight. If it was heat shielded you could just dump it in for your morning commute. In theory, cold fuel is best. Methanol wont freeze either. Could be a fun test. I'm going to. Just haven't had time.

 

I'm going to dig back, these threads go so fast. Is a maf extension a good idea for using a tundra maf sensor? Im going to make an intake that is larger and fits properly. Not happy with how the afe momentum tube fits since I've got a spacer for the tundra intake.
Any tips or links would be greatly appreciated.

 

Water computer cooling is very different. In a PC most of the cooling doesn’t come from the water, it comes from the water transporting the heat from the CPU block to the radiator and then to the air. With a meth injection system the cooling comes from the phase change of the meth/water from a liquid to the gas. It takes a lot of energy to vaporize water, and that extraction of energy drops the temperature of the IAT air.

Phase change cooling is how a heat pipe works in a computer, how your fridge works, and how your AC works. It’s also how liquid nitrogen cooling in PCs works, it’s not just the fact liquid N is super cold to begin with. As it boils off it extracts even more heat from its surroundings which allows for extreme overclocking.

 

Wouldn’t there also be a risk of hydro-locking the engine if water is used?

What if I’m cheap?

 

It would be pretty tough to inject enough water through a meth kit to cause a hydro-lock. What’s more likely is that the water will have too high a heat of vaporization and won’t change to a gas before combustion, and thus not lowering the intake air temperature enough to give the desired result. Adding methanol to water greatly decreases the heat of vaporization for water, allow for the mixture to change to a gas at a much lower temperature.

The most that would happen is a slight bog in performance. That's the trial and error if you dont have a dyno. You'd need pints to hydro lock. This is just an atomize mist.

 

We know you're cheap but a little methanol in the water makes a big difference.

By injecting the meth pre-SC, and then the SC charging the air..... wouldn't it be heating it right back up? I could be way off... someone set me strait....

It cools things down as it goes. Treating the whole supercharger. Yeah, it warms some but the cooling of alchohol still happens. And the octane is still nice. 100+ octane is a great thing.

 

Cools the rotors as they are what builds heat as well.
