In a 4 horse race, Tacoma is last.

My point was, I am 6' tall and zero issues with seat and/or ceiling height. Have never come close to hitting my head on the roof.

That article cracks me up as they praise the Ranger for interior storage... guess they never looked at the back seat.

 

I’ve seen a handful of new rangers in my area, and the funny thing is almost all of them have been driven by elderly folk. I guess Ford found their target market

 

Sure, if you want to pinch your pennies that hard. Otherwise, for features, build quality, get a Taco.

Barely on the market now, and a similarly specc'd gladiator to my TRD OR Tech + Premium is getting onto 60k+

I got a quote on a M/T Ram when I was looking for my truck in '17, only available on the diesel 2500, so also looking at 60k+, although it was actually available in '17.

 

Point was, he said the Tacoma was the only truck available in m/t. All we were saying is that it isn't.

 

His point (and mine) is that the Tacoma is the only truck with decent availability of a manual in most trims. The gladiator is supposed to also be available with a manual in most trims, but it's still quite new. The other two trucks tested.. not so much.

 

These reviews are written by people who drive VW golfs and honda fits

That sounds pretty cut and dry to me.

 

Yeah sounds more like opinions than fact that’s why I bought a Tacoma cuz a deal in facts and the math doesn’t lie only people do.

 

If I was in the market for a new truck and the Tacoma was no longer offered in a manual trans, I would get a Frontier Pro4x. People don't like the Frontier mostly because it still looks like it did back in the early 2000's and the interior is even more "blah" relative to most modern vehicles, but for some that isn't a bad thing.

The Tacoma has and still does win in the aesthetics department and thats why it continues to dominate in sales despite the lackluster drivetrain. And the Tacoma has pretty much always had a lackluster drivetrain, but it's looks and Toyota's reputation for reliability keep it on top.

The fact that it still offers a manual trans is just icing on the cake for a small minority of us that still prefer one. Also, aftermarket support is better for the Tacoma than most other mid-size truck companies, with the exception of Jeep which has and always will dominate the aftermarket.

The fact that the writer said the Ranger was an "attention getter" should disqualify his opinion!! The front of the Ranger looks like a defunked Taurus, or five Hundred. Pretty boring look compared to the Tacoma.

 

Actually, if you go to the Toyota website and build your own 2019 Tacoma, there isn't a manual option. Just the 6 speed auto.
I bought my 2007 Tacoma, because I know it will hold it's value, it's a great truck and it's what I wanted. I would gladly take my 2007 over the new Ranger (which looks ugly to me) and the Gladiator (which is even more hideous with that bed slapped on the back).

I was wrong, I admit it. You can get the TRD with the manual.

 

Im 5'11" and there is tons of room getting in and out. Lots of room between my head and roof when im in the seat. I got the sunroof too.

Dont understand why everybody complains about it, unless they all are 6'5" or something. If you sit with your seat back in vertical position then it could be a bit tight, but who drives like that? You shouldnt be driving if thats the case.

 

Nissan was good back in the day but once Renault got involved quality and reliability went downhill unfortunately.

 

Very true, they used to rely on a good reputation for quality build and reliability much like Toyota, but that has gone by the wayside in the past decade +

 

Save the 6 speed. Man up and shift a manual!

 

Nissan’s glory days are long gone. Nissan went bankrupt in the late 1990s because it was building shit vehicles.

Renault picked them up for nothing, much like Fiat did with Chrysler. And much like Chrysler’s North America business is now keeping Fiat alive, Nissan is now keeping Renault alive.

 

When you’re old like me, you know Nissan was never good. I challenge any dude with a 1991 Sentra or a 1987 ‘Hardbody’ pickup to tell me I’m wrong.
