Yea, 6/5 with 650s. Its like 2 1/8” lmao. If I had no weight I’m sure it would be 2.25-2.5” Per bilsteins website you gain .5” of lift when switching coils.

I regretted my decision when I first got the lift with 6112s at 5/4 with stock UCAs. The ride didn’t feel right with the assumption that my alignment was out of wack after 3 months, plus I lost .5” lift when I started adding weight....so I just went to 6/5 and 650 and JBA UCAs. And rides way better. You could just get lifetime alignment at firestone but I’m not tryna go there every other month.

Sounds like you wanna offroad and overland a lot so I don’t see why you wouldn’t want aftermarket UCAs.

    Good luck!

With the 6112/5160/Dakars would we need a differential and carrier bearing drop kits? Are you still running a sway bar?

With your dclb, you will need a carrier bearing drop but the front differential drop will not be needed. I have a 2013 dclb with medium dakars, 5160's and 6112's on the 4th setting and mine runs great with no vibes. I just put on a sos streamline front bumper as well as a full skid trio so it is a little front heavy but I will be upgrading to 650 lb coils soon. That is why the front looks a little lower. The dcsb's have more of a aggressive angle when lifted so shims are usually necessary to prevent driveline vibe but I haven't experienced any at all with the DCLB.

    No diff drop kit necessary.

Look into adding 2-3 degree shims with the Dakars. I think it’s easier to do this all at once, rather than retro fit. Add a carrier bearing drop kit if you need them later, its an easy install.

I added a sway bar relocate because the sway bar looked too close to the coils. You can add one later if you get rubbing, its an easy install.

I have no diff drops, no shims, no vibes no shaking or anything. My truck drives normal. I don’t run Dakar’s, I run icons Rxt if that means anything.

The only thing I have done is the ECGS mod.

Shims are the one piece of the puzzle I’ve yet to fully understand. Any recommendations on resources to learn about them and recommendations on what ones to buy?

Suspension is all about angles. A lift changes the angles. With shims you are trying to (compensate) bring the angles back to nominal. For the Tacoma rear lift the rule of thumb is that you add 1 degree of angle for each inch of lift. YMMV.

I added 2 degree steel shim. It is pinned to the leaf pack. I went 2 degree because I was not sure if I was going with the full Dakar pack or remove a leaf. I went with the whole 95R pack.

    My pack with shim.

I've heard to measure the angle before you disassemble the rear, then install the new leafs. After that, you'll know what degree shim to need. Where / how do I measure that angle? And what is the difference between this kit from Head Strong with the option to select various angles, vs ?

Does anyone know if the only difference between the left and right side 5160 is the brake line spacer that comes with the left side?

I installed 6112 last month with OME Dakar medium leafs. No rear shocks yet as they are still not in stock.

I had the clips on 5/4 as recommended for my AC.

This picture was taken right after the install and alignment.

I am currently at factory height in the front. No mods to the front of my truck.

Rear came up 2" despite the additional weight in the bed.

    What am I doing wrong?

    Two more questions:

Once I install my 6112s, if I want to change the height of the clip for whatever reason, do I need to completely remove the coilover, or can it be done while on the truck? I don’t have a spring compressor and will be doing the install myself.

Can I install my 6112s and Dakar leafs while I await the 5160s for the rear to arrive, or should I wait and put everything on all at once?

What’s the question? Your saying you didn’t get and lift cuz it looks like you got some. Did you take before and after measurements?

You have to completely remove the setup. You can install the Dakar’s in the rear on the stock shocks.

Yes you will have to take the shocks off of the truck and take them apart to change the clip.

It isnt fully recommended that you leave the stock shocks on with the dakars. It might be a better idea to wait to do everything at once. You can do the front first to level the truck without doing the rear dakars. That won't effect the rear at all.

And just be sure that you find someone that has the balls to compress the spring. Had that issue last summer.
Found a mechanic that knew his shit. Will be going back to him with my pickles. :D

I probably should have said more what he said lol. Possible yes, recommended not really. Not really sure if this is your DD as mine is not, so for me the answer is yes. If your own pavement it won’t really hurt, I wouldn’t offroad it though.

On another note 8112 are being installed today!!
