I have a 2000 TRD Xtra cab and the lever to pop the passenger seat forward from the back is missing some sort of little cover. Does anyone know where to get one? Or know what it's called or a possible part number?

The dealer was stumped and are contacting the mothership for advice. Furthermore, after googling for hours, I could only find one crappy picture of said lever cover — mine was missing when I bought it and I have not a clue as to what it even looks like.

It's a little rectangular cover that fits over the top, sort of like how a clutch pedal cover is fitted over the top of the metal pedal, except the seat one is hard plastic. I really doubt you will find one to buy separately. It's meant to be operated by the foot of somebody who is jammed in the backseat and trying to exit by releasing the seat back forward. Put some black non-slip duct tape or something similar on it and look for another item to fix on the truck. There's probably lots of plastic items waiting to break on a 19 year old truck. Ask me how I know. Mine is 21 years old.
The plastic cover won't make it any easier to operate because it's not really any bigger than the flat piece of metal that it's covering. I'll post a picture late tonight if somebody else doesn't do it first.

Interesting to know it's plastic and not rubber. Does it match the interior color? I'm not surprised that it's missing at all, but surprised that it doesn't have a PN or name given how comprehensive Toyota is.

My truck is also 20 yrs old but trying to make it look less so by fixing these easy little things!

Im sure you could probably pull one off any vehicle at a Junk yard and make it fit.

I wish that was the case around my area. When a Tacoma shows up at any of about 6 pic-n-pulls in my area it usually looks like vultures stripped the carcass. And even if I do find a Taco it usually doesn't have seats. Not sure if the split bench seat is in any other Toy vehicle.

Wonder if some other 2 door yota had the same part, like a celica or something. Might be less picked over at a junk yard.

Look for at any model with reclining seats like ours. I’m sure you can find something that would work.

I’ve been wanting to make a JY trip. I’ll check for one when I do go

@ToyRyd04 those are the plastic covers for the seat rails, where they bolt to the body of the truck. Also ordered one of those today actually.

    I can’t find it either. I checked Toyota’s catalog.

Wish you asked a few months ago. I threw away two bucket seats.

I was digging through the EPC, too. I'll be darned if I could find it on any Tacoma either. I also tried looking at 89-95 XtraCab trucks, 2 door 4Runners, Corollas and none of them show the little rear side release lever either in a diagram. It seems to be a mystery piece that our eyes have deceived us for years and wasn't actually there.

OP, there is a totaled 2oo1 on a salvage lot here, I went to check a couple weeks ago and seats all taken already
the 3.4 engine was still init, I suppose that is gone now as well....

it might have been similar to 2ooo on the interior but not sure since there were no seats

They were probably towing a meth lab. Someone had a fifth wheel hitch installed in then bed. On a 5-lug only capable of towing 3,500 pounds
