I feel like an auto locker would be sketchy as hell with a manual trans esp in snow/ice lol.

 

Or you know, save a few thousand and just use the 4WD frame he has sitting.

I think he means save a few grand and build up that 4x4 frame into a wheeler.

 

We talking front and rear air lockers? Yeah, that’s a few thousand including gear installation.

 

That too. I did look at lockers and the labor to install them and it would be in the thousands when it’s all said and done.

Yeah if you're buying front/rear lockers and having a shop do the install, $3k easy

Regear on both diffs and a locker in each is going to cost a pretty penny lol

 

I was quoted about $2,000 for a regear. The gears are cheap, it’s the labor that kills you. The lockers will add another $2,000 on top of that.

 

I looked it up on Fuelly and it looks like the average is actually around 13 which isn't nearly as bad as I would've thought, for a 2001 V10 Excursion. Hell my truck only does a couple better

But the one he's looking at on 40s probably gets half that if it's lucky

 

And the van is gunna get all that done

 

They literally have the same drivetrain as U-Haul trucks. The modular Ford V10 is the soylent of engines.

 

Atleast get a rear locker
