Keep an eye on Craigslist, the BST thread here, offer up, let go, those places. They pop up for about 200-300 bucks frequently.

I have these and while I like them a lot, they won’t stop door dings. They’re effective against small low sitting cars but, SUV’s, mini vans and trucks sit higher and can easily ding you. Best solution I’ve found it to park a ways out.

Sliders, they stop shopping carts, close parkers, work goodish as steps and occasionally you get to watch some twat try and get out of their car after they park all jacked up next to you. Nothing will put a smile on your face like seeing someone wack their door on .120 wall DOM.

Very few doors actually hit sliders before the truck. Just look at modern cars. They have pointed doors, especially in rear doors on 4 doors. Park in the "no ding zone", park snugged up to a curb, never park next to coupes (very long doors), and never park next to handicap spots.

At my local Walmart it is a wise idea to make a mental note of what direction the wind is out of so you can park upwind. I have seen on multiple occasions shopping carts moving across the parking lot with the winds help and the slight slope they paved the asphalt so the rain water runs off. Some of them get rolling pretty fast and don't stop till they run into something.

If what they were driving looks anything like the piles parked here in the projects parking lot...they probably do not care.

You can always get the 2nd gen oem steps. They fit on the 3rd gen perfectly and can be purchased for much cheaper than the 3rd gen steps.

    Sliders don't protect from that...

OP - park far away. Sliders, steps, et al won't prevent a ding/dent when the kids get out of the rear of a car next to you and the shape of that door slams into the truck...

In my experience it's not cars that dent my doors, it's SUVS and other trucks. My steps didn't do anything to protect my doors.

It sucks that people don't care about other people's property. I park far and alone. I don't mind the walk.

Ironically I always find someone park next to me when I return

That’d make sense being that they’re higher and all. Still, people suck sometimes.
