They already gave him a recommendation in their report if you’d read it. They told him to go to a 14k oil change interval...

Yes. Original head gasket. Didnt know there was a problem with them.

I know there was a problem in the 1st Gens but not mine.

All 05’s and some early 06’s have a different part # head gasket that are prone to failure. But I had 190,000 on my 2005 when I sold it running great. It’s hit or miss.

Same yr model, oil, filter and OCI as OP but not as many miles. It’s encouraging to see our trucks lasting as long.

nada....maybe a license plate one day & BA bumpers
lets talk further on this matter when & if you reach 300k
notice all the folks with over 250k miles that responded to this thread change their oil every 5k?
notice no one responded with over 250k miles that changes their oil every 10-15k?

Im still waiting to see a high mileage (over 250k or 300k) gen2 taco that gets its oil changed every 10-15k miles
the proof is in the pudding, meaning actual road miles, not well wishing or a lab report

why did they not spec an oil change interval for me?
is it possible that they agree with my interval based on the awesome results my engine & test produced?
my report looks way better than his, & I have nearly double the mileage over his motor

read the comments section on both reports
    it tells it all

08 V6 with 310xxx miles. Oil and filter change every 5000 miles per owners manual. PennZoil 5w 30 conventional and OEM Toyota filter. I am original owner.
On a side note, the transmission gave out at 306xxx miles.

Yes, it was flushed but only once. I think at 210xxx miles, if memory serves.

    I swapped tranny fluid/filter at 90k, 120k, 180k, 240k, and most recently at 300k on my taco
seems to be in great shape

How much of a pain is it to change the filter (really the wire mesh screen), and magnets?

piece of cake to remove fluid & filter/replace filter

hardest part is the refill/temp window for excess fluid removal
getting the gasket seated can be a slight PITA, but do-able

obviously you drop the pan? but its not much more than another couple bolts after that? I did a full fluid flush at 60k miles that was a cakewalk, just time consuming. Tempted to clean / replace the filter screen element at 120.

It just 'blew up' / gave out.
    I replaced it.
I'll definitely be doing this schedule on the new trans!
