Gotta pull a vacuum first or you end up contaminating the refrigerant plus you don't know if it's sealed. I've seen shops pull vacuum and let it sit to test, I've seen em fill with nitrogen, some fill with other inert gasses. Anything to make sure it isn't gonna fail immediately and let your refrigerant go. But a vacuum is necessary, air is no bueno in the system.

damn, I should probably just drop it off with a shop and let them change the parts as needed, then.

As long as its leak free and you pull a vacuum below 500 microns you can charge it up no issue

If I remove one of the rotator pulleys from the shaft and hold it with my finger, it doesn’t seize. The motor is permanently attached to the drive pulley so I can’t remove it.

It doesn’t get hot when it stops spinning.

I'm saving this pic for the next time a 3rd gen member talks about how 1st gens are inferior due to their frame issues

This is a rusty 2016 Tacoma frame, just posted in a new thread asking if it was normal...that's a lot of rust

ehh, anytime there's 3rd gen/1st gen banter someone always brings up the rusty frames issue, like the 3rd gens haven't got to worry about it like we do

Seems to not be the case

Just thought it was funny, I probably won't stir the pot but if Crow were still here he'd be the man to do it lol

I think in general 4runners have always withstood rust issues better than Tacomas, I could be wrong but I think they're frames are sourced differently being made in Japan and all.

I have seen pics of 4runners with bad frames though so they aren't immune, saw a 3rd gen T4R with a swiss cheese frame once in person.
