My 09 frame

 

that does not look 'winter' driven at all!!

 

Only has 50k on it. Pretty clean



I did paint it. Just so it was nice and shiney

 

what kind of paint?

 

Professional grade gloss black rustoleum (spellcheck) from Lowe’s

 

it sounds better than POR stuff



about $58 gal at HD

 

Yeah I used that stuff just in a spray can. Did two coats

 

Personally I would do my own inspection!
Don’t trust the dealer.
I have a local independent shop that I know and trust to do what I can’t or don’t want to do.
Your dealer should do the inspection without question.
I found my fail and just stopped in without an appt to have their frame guy look at something for me.
15 mins total he says yep you can keep it or set up a loaner.
I kept it.
Tech did an awesome job, I was welcome to stop in anytime.
It is still like new no issues at all and I’m close to 15k miles since swap and pushing 180k on the OD.

 

i did an inspection of a totaled Taco at a salvage yard recently, could only reach the passenger side
... pounded that crusty frame till my body ached (hot outside that day) ... nothing but strong hard pings but still crusty as hell

 

Not a very hidden spot for a hide a key. LOL

 

Not sure about how bad they rot in your location.
But I did try to save my frame!
And I failed!
But I got lucky and found this.

Looks like a bad weld?

 

winters are sorta sporadic here, nothing is ever consistent with weather patterns (have not had a bad ice storm in decades)
lots of humidity in the summers most of the time
it might be a function of the hosing down at car wash in winters or undercarriage washing

 

Thinking yours is a 2011.
12 years pending in service date.
2023 you should be covered.

 

Since this thread was bumped recently figured I'd ask. My frame in my 06 is bad somehow and I didn't check it thoroughly when I bought it so its my fault, but I'm in Hawaii so I didn't expect to see any rust anyway. Its too late for me to get it replaced right?
