OP, on your particular truck there are 5 zerks: 3 on the rear drive shaft, 2 on the front drive shaft.

Last time I greased the front one under the shield, I made note that if a guy had a 90 degree fitting you probably could get it without removing the shield. Taking the shield off is no big deal, but neither is buying a 90 degree fitting on eBay. A fitting for the grease gun that is. Not a zert.

If you use a flexible hose zerk gun no need to remove the shield - at least I didn’t have to on my ‘13

I do use a flex hose and I did read people couple do it. I gave it my best, it just wouldn’t go. I had to take off the shield. That’s when I looked at it and said a 90 degree fitting would work. I think I even drew blood trying to get that sucker on.

Best money I've ever spent. Doesn't fit on the front shaft zerks, but it actually WORKS on the UCA.

I can’t even get it on, the angle is to much. I suspect the coupler is to thick compared to others that can get it. I don’t have a problem with the others, it’s just the front one without removing the shield. I think my coupler is to fat.

I have a complete set of front skids, both front, mid and t-case so I removed and discarded that little elbow shield. Even without the shield, it's a PITA to get a good latch. I have since stopped greasing the front drive shaft unless I know I have an event planned. The grease channels have gotten clogged more times than I can shake a stick at. I'm almost to the point that I'd swap out the zerks on the front with button-head type grease zerks. But I dont know if dropping another 50$ for a new tip and replacement zerks. See below for what I'm talking about.

Needle tip adapter for the grease gun. the collar with the crosshatch slides down over the end of the grease gun hose/fitting, the needle tip gets placed right on the bead of the zirk. Good for tight places

Yes, and there is also a thinner coupler available. I have also ground the outsides of the coupler a little to get in tight places.

This is what I used and worked without removing the shield. It was tight angle to fit the zerk for sure.

    This^.

I've got the same grease gun and have zero issues reaching all the zerks.
