If Toyota truly wants the pro grille to be exclusive, they better come up with a Pro new grille. The most exclusive grille out there is the chrome cheese-grater. Hardly any trucks rocking it any more.

The only time I've seen such a rule, sort of enforced, has been with the FJ anthracite wheel.

If Toyota really wanted to stop the faux grilles from spreading, they shouldn’t be giving out OE garnish covers like hosts on Good Friday.

Ha! Thanks for that like!! And I still have “chrome” endcaps on my OEM rear bumper!

I guess my hopes of getting my hands on that TRD Dingus are dashed. Wish I hadn’t cut the hole in my fender already.

You guys think it's about exclusivity, or forcing customers into buying the Pro?
Or do you think it's just a low inventory of parts, so they want to keep em for Pro owners in case of accidents?

I think it’s exclusivity, but not force anyone into buying a Pro. It is to make Pro owners feel special...since they got hosed.

My dealer was really cool about it. They said that as long as they have a Pro on the lot, they will use it's VIN to sell me Pro parts. Just need to find a different dealer.

So the pro part "ordering" is controlled by Toyota "corporate". Does the dealer enter the code, and then that gets sent to TOYOTA for immediate approval?
Cus if your dealer didn't care they could just hand the parts over and not request a VIN

I wouldn’t have bothered getting a faux Pro grille, hadn’t the cheese-grater grille on my OR been so hideous.

I paid my money, but was not impressed.

As you know too, the Pro Grille is a great fashion accessory, but is not as nicely made as the OEM chrome cheese-grater. That grille actually had some heft to it.

As a pretentious pro owner who got hosed myself I really don't want you guys to have cool authentic Toyota grilles. Go ahead and buy your Chinese knockoffs. Peasants.

:p Just kidding. But the chinese ones are probably the way to go. Save you a few bucks. Good luck.

They are all Chinese ones, but some come in a Toyota box with the correct spelling.

Spend 1/4 the price, buy one off TW, be impressed at quality and hope they don't look like shit in a few years.

That's what I did, screw OEM and it's hefty price tag.
