I know this is first world problems, but anyone notice the cup holders in this truck are hot to touch? If I put an iced drink in the cup holder, the ice is melted in 5 mins. I purchased one of those high dollar double insulated cups and that helped a bit, but that is hot to pick up on longer drives.

Is there suppose to be some sort of heat shield under the center console? Has anyone had this issue? Anyone attempt to fix the problem with a product such as a lizard skin or stick on heat shields?

    Thanks

Mine is that bad. I don't use the center console cup holders unless I have an insulated cup there. I will have to pull up the console and have a look around. Maybe go buy some sort of insulated product to put around the cup holders.

Might be unique to your truck. Before masking the symptoms by insulating the cup holders, might want to investigate the underlying cause further. (unfortunately I have no idea what that would be...)

Bottles of water have frozen in my cup holder before. This was in winter after the temperature had fallen below thirty-two degrees fahrenheit.

Is there some sort of after market electronic device (speaker amp, inverter etc...) stuffed in there that might be making extra heat? Thats the only thing I can think of..

    or maybe colder ice :stirthepot:

Are your heater ducts plugged into the box?

Heater core is still warm even in cold mode.

My cupholder behind the shifter gets warm, and the 2 infront of the shifter get kinda warm. My tans temps are not too high, I have an aftermarket cooler and watch temps. I never saw it as a huge issue, no exhaust gasses are coming inside or anything like that. I've had the console out and know that all of the boots are in good shape, I even have new ones on the parking brake cables. While the console was out I drove around a couple times, heat was not blowing under mine. Maybe worth trying to insulate the tunnel rather than just the cup holder?

And yep Powdersville! Well I used to live there but moved up the street to Easley a couple years ago.

I’ve been wanting to go visit the park, just haven’t had time yet. Was thinking about going Possibly tomorrow or Sunday. It is Fathers Day after all:rolleyes: I get to do what I want right?? Lol

They're giving out $10 coupons for the park tomorrow morning. I'll be headed out there. Maybe a few more guys if I can stir them up in the SC BS thread. Lol

Scorching hot? That obviously is not normal. If it’s scorching hot sounds like you have potential for a fire to start in your truck. I don’t know what the problem is but I’d get that checked by a good mechanic or a dealer . I’d get it checked now!
