I’ve though the same thing. I mean he does have a helper now. Wondered if he has a taco/4Runner or something? But still seems even a lot for two people.

 

I agree, curious if he’s a taco head like us lol. He probably needs at least 2 people just to keep up with his pms for the day.

Finally got my install done today. Over all not bad. i only had to fight with two things. that damn drivers power switch connector, and the A pillar fitment. Finally got that connector off, but man, getting the A pillar to sit right with that extra connector.... still looks "puffed out" no matter how i lay the new connectors.

on a plus note, feeding the connectors thru the door jam boots was cake. i used Wurth Silcone spray to lube up the inside of the boot, and then "collapsed" the boot so it was "shorter" and pushed the connector about 90 percent of the way in, then used surgical hemostats (clamps) to reach in and pull the connector out. Also saw no need to trim the pass side footwell plastic.

Do you have a sunroof? Sounds like the drain tube takes up some space in the A pillar.

 

I sure do. it’s not much of a bulge out. But I know it’s there..... lol

 

Literally same method I used, hemostat is the bees knees. For the power switch connector, I had to use a pick to push down directly on the little ramp that latches (not the piece intended for your finger) and push outward. Tough little connector.

 

What speakers are you thinking of up grading to?

 

I ordered some kicker cs series

 

I emailed him on Tuesday at 12:20 AM Mountain time and he replied within 2 minutes. I can confirm he's both available and has no free time.

Also, awesome customer service, for sure.

 

I thought about it myself, I think what it MIGHT be is that instead of cutting the barrier I routed the passenger wire through the preexisting slits which may have reduced maybe 9-12 inches of slack rather than cutting the barrier myself and running it straight up.

 

I also used stock holes. Length was perfect.

 

I didn’t cut anything in the center dash cluster area. I saw the step but I’ve run wires through there before so skipped it.

 

Finally got mine installed today. Was part of the first batch but then ordered the Kicker speakers, Noice sound damping, Subaru tweeters, etc... and just got to it today. Install went smooth per the instructions and this thread. Navigated the boot easily with a large zip tie, electrical tape, and dishwasher liquid. When I disconnected the cables at the kick panel, I completely pulled them out so I had the entire assembly out for threading the new wires. Had to push all the connectors back through the hole in the kick panel but that was easy. Overall, easy peasy, well done @MESO ...I had plenty of wire length and everything went super smooth, got everything tucked up nice and clean.

Also, for the connectors in the driver A-pillar, I moved one of the small plastic clips from the factory connector to Meso’s, clipped it in the same spot and then pulled the slack and old connectors down towards the kick panel. No bulge or other issues this way. I don’t have a sunroof though. No pics on install process because I was in get shit done mode...

Hardest part was the damn Noice sound damping in the doors for me. Still need to do the speakers in the back doors, but that will wait for another day. Been walking by my truck every 20 min just to watch it light up... STOKED!

Why did your noico take long? Did you do the exterior or the interior?

 

Inside the doors. I’ve never done it before and am a bit OCD, so measuring inside, then cutting the material to size and installing it all through the speaker opening was tricky for me. It was hot here today so when I tried to pull the vapor barrier it was a mess so I did it all through the speaker opening. Still got almost the entire door covered. Only a few small cuts on my knuckles, pretty happy about that.

 

I did mine through the vapor barrier. Pretty annoying to pull, but with a sharp blade isn't too bad. I probably did 60% of the door skin, it was annoying as hell. Idk how u did it through the door speaker haha.
