Meh, it’s a truck. I’d rather have a 1KZ than a supercharged 3RZ.

If my truck was a 1997 I could make that swap legal in California. All diesel vehicles 1997 and older are exempt. Unfortunately, I have a 1998.

It’s a very simple swap, that engine can be had for $2,500.

 

cash flow is slow right now. recovering from bullshit. lol

I looked at the CA BAR guidelines. Rule is Gasoline powered, 1975 model year or older. Diesel powered 1997 model year and older or with a Gross Vehicle Weight rating (GVWR) of more than 14,000 pounds.

If my truck had a date of 1997, I could’ve done that swap no matter if that engine was sold in the US or not. But since it’s a 1998 I’d have to conform to federal EPA and state CARB standards.

 

no... the vin on your truck is a gas vehicle. it applies to the rules of a gas vehicle.

swapping diesels into gas vehicles are a no no for emmissions

 

at least thats how it works in indiana

 

I guess LS would be the next easiest thing then. Aftermarket support for that engine is crazy.

 

trash. do a 4.7 toyota swap. dont go chevy on a yota.

 

The LS is so easy and simple though, and cheap. Plus you can just buy a stand-alone harness and ECU.

That’s something, haha. I wish I took a picture. This LC probably was in a front end collision and they literally just cut the frame and cab at the driver’s door and attached an ox yoke to it.
