I think the sooner I can get done with yard work the sooner I can start drinking beer. So that means probably about half way through the front yard I’ll open a cold one. To early? Never

My Airbag light is still on; an unfortunate by-product of tearing my lower dash out to install and rewire some switches.

I went to AutoZone yesterday and asked if they had an OBD scanner that could clear the light. The manager lady said they did not have the necessary scanner tool, but even if they did they wouldn't be able to clear it for liability reasons.

I wouldn't mind tearing everything apart again if I knew what I was looking for (such as a plug I forgot to re-plug). I hate to go to the stealership and have them check it then come back and tell me it's a major repair job to fix it (even if it isn't they just want my money).

Any thoughts? Would disconnecting the battery for about a half hour to run down the vehicle's computer reset it?

Does anyone know of a specific plug or wire that needs looked at?

Or for that matter, what brand and model # is the scanner. I won't rule out buying one for myself.

Did you disconnect the battery before taking the dash apart? All air bag plugs / connectors are yellow. Check those and any grounds that are supposed to be bolted down. Even if you find a plug disconnected or a ground bolt not completely tightened, after plugging it up or tightening it down the dash light will still be on. You will need to have it cleared by the proper scan tool. Leaving the battery disconnected for a year would not even make it go off.
EDIT: SEE MY FOLLOWING POST. THE ABOVE EVIDENTLY ONLY APPLIES TO MOST VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH AIR BAG SYSTEMS.
    I guess I was wrong...I don't know everything ;)

I just talked with the regional manager of ProTech. This is the company that Caliber Collision owns and exclusively uses to do all of its air bag services. He said because it is a Toyota, it WILL clear the fault code and thus the dash light all on its own once the problem is found and fixed...so, you won't need the scan tool at all.

You still have to scan it to figure out where the problem is so that you can fix it

I'm not sure which VA regional group I "fall into," but being halfway between Hampton Roads and Richmond (New Kent Co.), I figured I might as well just follow all of them.

I'm just getting into actual trail riding (just hit the year ownership mark on my Taco), and figured these threads are likely the best way to find out about possible trail meet up and rides.
So, if there are any efforts underway or if there are better threads to get the inside scoop, let me know.
