Just not that good or is this an authenticity thing?! Like a Mexican telling me my favorite Mexican restaurant really isn’t that good yet I still love it anyway cause it’s all we got! They never seem to take me up on the offer to let them cook real-authentic for me!! Wanna make me some real Thai food?!:boink:

That was a proposal for the nation flag, by South Carolina politician & general Christopher Gadsden.
    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gadsden_flag
It got in to the final discussion (& had popular support) with the red stripe/blue field of stars flag. The yellow flag was paired with the rattlesnake to be the national symbols. Both had pros & cons, with the stripes/eagle set as the more “traditional” set, seen as derivatives of others with eagles & corporate flags (it’s based directly upon the East Indian Company flag, the ACTUAL one, not that used in Pirates of the Caribbean).

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_of_the_East_India_Company

Ben Franklin was the biggest advocate of the snake symbolism, with his oft-mentioned turkey as a retorical device to make fun of the eagle (turkey is more noble than the eagle).

It was actually VERY close. A proposal was to adopt both, one a “peacetime” flag & the other as the “wartime” flag, as had been used before in Europe.
Obviously, the stripped flag & eagle won in the end, but many used the “Gadsden Flag,” both in combat & as their flag.

Anyone have a recommendation for camping near water in the upstate? Willing to drive an hour or two from Greenville.

Just looking for a somewhat secluded spot where I can camp and take the pup swimming either tonight or next weekend. Fine if I have to off-road to get there (preferred honestly haha).

I’ve been to Charlie’s creek a few times in GA but looking for other options as well.

    Thanks!

Trust me I love Jocaseee haha but most of their near water spots are usually taken and it’s a little more populated than I would like. I have a state park pass so I hit there often though, awesome recommendation!

Really looking for something more in the backcountry!

    Chestnut mt/gorges.
Not sure how populated it is but there's a pretty sweet camping area at horsepasture river.

I think you can camp at the lake portion of horsepasture rd, just no fires are allowed.

I was there a few weekends ago, figured it would probably be full this weekend!

That is exactly the type of stuff I’m looking for though!

DuPont is definitely an area I need to explore more. I have been to crowders (climbing) and Caesar’s head a fair amount, awesome suggestions!

Pisgah is beautiful too, need to do more camping up there

They changed it a couple years ago I thought to be year around access.
