I have one LBJ bolt that would never click at full torque. Figured it was starting to strip. Gonna let it be the dealers problem whenever the lbj's need changed.

If there is any part of the bolt sticking out of the spindle you could weld a nut to it and back it out. Could also try cutting a slot with a dremel and using a flat screw driver.

The broken part is deep in the threads, only way to get to it is looking up into the threads. Got an extractor kit I'm going to give a try wheb I get home

If that doesnt work, a left handed drill bit is the next option.

I've always wondered why they sell 2 different style bolts for the LBJ. I forget but I think the ones with the washer are supposed to be the updated ones? If that is true, why do they still offer the other one? I prefer to use the flange bolt style instead of the captive washer type.

Blue is nothing. Ive never had it make a difference when trying to get a bolt out. All it does is prevent vibes from loosening it up. Now if you had used red, or green it would be a different story lol.

I broke one of mine early on not long after I got the truck when I swapped out a cv. Hadn't heard the toque was kinda low and used an impact on them. I was lucky enough that it broke off just long enough out of the spindle that I could get a get of vise grips on it and turn it out. Drove it with 3 bolts holding for a couple days.

I'm rather shocked a brand new OEM broke the first time and just torquing to spec

I'm going to have to remove the new ball joint...the half the bolt is stuck inside the spindle portion, can't get the extractor bit that far up especially in such a tight space. Fuck this lol. Here we go...

There's the fucker...gonna try @Reh5108 method of notching the end of it with my dremel and trying to back it out with a screwdriver

If you have some high quality metal drill bits you can also start real small and keep stepping up diameter until you can pry that bastard out

would I need a left handed drill bit? then put a right handed one in and back it out?

And as luck would have it, I fucked up the boot on the new ball joint getting it off. So now I need another one of those lol. Figures.

To drill it out, yeah. You'd make a real small diameter hole going into the bolt and increase the diameter until an Ez out or left hand bit can get close to going in and then go for it. With Ez out get your hole drilled into that bolt then take Ez out and hammer it good into the hole and then use a ratchet or T handle thing to turn Ez out into the broken bolt and as you're driving it into bolt by going lefty loosy the bolt eventually gives and backs off... As long as it's not seized too bad, not cross threaded right?

Should come out by hand if you take the balljoint off. Or drill and easy out.

    Was your old boot bad?

Reverse drill bit would be best. Often times the bit will catch and back it out. Not necessary though.

I've been able to drill bigger and bigger into broken bolts until I could just pry it out with a small driver or pick or whatever

A tap to clean out the threads before reinstalling might be a good idea. Looks like some corrosion in there.
