Haha i'm the same with beer. Sunday's are my eat whatever and drink beer day then back to it on Monday-Saturday.

Truth! Feeling good trumps everything, especially working so many hours per week - I don't have time to feel like crap and be dragging energy wise.

Don't bother with Keto. It isn't bad by any means and does work, but low-moderate carb is much more useful/practical unless you're morbidly obese. If you're at a normal body fat and workout regularly - carbs are your friend in controlled amounts and will keep your metabolism up and running. People often when switching to Keto because of the amount of dietary fat added, also tend to over eat fat and can even gain weight because of excess calories. Fat = 9 cals/gram Carbs & Protein = 4cals/gram. Fat is much more calorie dense. Don't avoid dietary fat because it's essential for health, but keep the calories density in mind.

But like I said in previous posts - specific diet info is a case by case basis (why I don't say a certain diet is better than another), so whatever you feel best doing, keep doing because you'll stick to it.

My sweet spot is less than 100g of net carbs per day.

Like I said I can’t do keto because I have to limit my veggie consumption too much. Screw that.

BTW don’t go on the Keto thread in the food section. Its a bunch of guys claiming to be keto but they eat Quest bars and cauliflour crust pizzas and shit I know full well have too many carbs.
They think Michelob Ultra is keto... LOL

lol. Cool thing is too man, if you ever decide to get super duper lean (not sure where you're at now), you'll be amazed at how many more carbs you can eat and still stay lean (and feel great) at the same time. When I initially start dieting I go low carb and when I pass a certain bodyfat threshhold, I can bring up the carbs and still keep losing weight/fat.

But you're listening to your body and for most people a low-ish carb diet that still provides plenty of nutrients is exactly the ticket to feeling good!

I am probably about 9% now. I’m trying to keep at about 8%.

The main reason I tried to do keto was to help with the gut but to improve insulin sensitivity. I think I’m relatively insulin resistent and I’m trying to fix that. Carbs and I just don’t like eachother except after workouts.

I need to bring it up to my Dr this year but I’ve noticed when I eat carbs my BP goes up.
    I’m 28. Prolly shouldn’t be happening.

    I’m a nerd.

I was Psych/Pre Med in my undergrad and did a shit ton of shadowing hours with docs.
I really like biochem and that is in and of itself the study of cellular metabolism (using and burning calories).

My masters degrees are in Public Health Policy and Environmental Science where I’ve taken biostatistics courses out the wazzoo so I’m one of those people who reads scientific journals for fun.

I love anything science so I just read and research a lot.

    I’m a weirdo, what can I say.

That is weird if you're a true 9%, something underlying my be going on if you can't handle more than 100g carbs/day. How often are you working out, and what kind of workouts? I know if I don't train high volume and at least 5x per week, the amount of carbs I can handle goes down quite a bit. Also, what is your fat intake per day?

I started out with websites, got super fat and unhealthy by eating every 2 hours like most bodybuilding forums push, so I took it into my own hands and experimented while hiring a coach (for bodybuilding). I had bad food intolerances, disgstive issues, etc so I had to learn how certain foods interacted with my body so i'd feel good. It sure takes a while, but learning your body is the single most valuable tool you have.

Its not that I can’t handle more thats just my sweet spot where I feel the best.

I workout 6 days per week. Right now its P90X lifting routines every other day then cardio (mostly running and some stairs) in between. 60-90 minutes per day.

Edit Fat intake is a minimum 90g.
I have an autoimmune thyroid condition so if my fat intake isn’t up I suffer.

Gotcha. Do you eat carbs with breakfast? For me, I don't even eat breakfast because of the sluggish feeling. Aka - i do a slight fast because i'm never hungry first thing AM, espcially after coffee (I wake up at 6am daily), and im hungry by about 10am. I feel MUCH better this way than making myself eat breakfast before heading into work. Might allow you to eat more carbs and feel decent - if you wanted to eat some more. My golden rule for eating after sleep to keep digestion good: wait until hungry and until I go #2 - starts the digestive track on a fresh start for the day.

Also, don't be afraid to eat carbs at night. BIG myth. When trying to gain weight in my offseason, my massive cheat meals were always at night so I could just pass out after. You'll sleep like a baby and wake up feeling great going to bed in a well fed state. Most people don't know you actually burn alot of calories during REM sleep because your body is in repair mode. IMO the worst time to consume alot of food is first thing in the morning, espcially if you're experiencing some insulin resistance.

Just a little food for thought shifting around meal times to help with blood sugar and digestion.

I eat pretty much no carbs at breakfast and my only carbs at lunch and snacks are fruit and veggies. I workout after work then eat my rice or potatoes at dinner right after I workout.

We have very similar eating patterns, I just have more carbs at those given meals.

I think I touched on it in a previous post too, but post workout (unless you're truly hungry directly after) don't be afraid to wait an hour or two until true hunger kicks in. You'll notice your digestion is MUCH better. Directly after a workout, your body is still in a fight or flight mode nervous system wise and blood flow is directed away from the digestive tract until you relax a little. Sometimes it's a few hours before i'm hungry - if I force myself to eat directly after when not hungry my stomach doesn't feel great.

    Next question for you professionals...

Clothing! Any internet site that makes actually quality clothes that fit right? Wouldn’t mind expanding the wardrobe some and the nearest mall is 45 minutes away.
