Yeah the old boot was torn too. I don't trust that I didn't shove some dirt into the new one as well with the pickle fork, just gonna bite the bullet and get another for peace of mind. Chalk it up to a lesson learned...don't implicitly trust new OEM bolts I guess lol.

Main concern is getting this broken bolt out now. Can't install a new lbj until i do

Headed to a local dealership that has an LBJ in stock before they close

I took a 98 felt headliner and installed it in my 97 over the vinyl. Literally right over the vinyl. It's held up by the trimo the sides, the map lights, the sun visors and 2 plastic clips on the back. It's also a regular cab.

Needle nose pliers lol. Just enough room around the bolt to grab it with them and turn

Thought I was going to have my truck on jack stands all weekend, thankfully I got the new balljoint put in...but because of this little setback, I only got one side done today lol. Oh well, I'll do the other one tomorrow and hope it's a much less eventful install

Why do you think that bolt bound up? Some shiz in the threads or something?

Now that I think about it...that same bolt that was in there before had a double washer on it. The 2 LBJ bolts closest to the wheel both had double washers, and the new bolts only came with one. So I think what happened was, without that second washer on there it was slightly too long and when I torqued it in all the way in snapped because it was too far into the spindle.

When I put the new LBJ in I put that 2nd washer on those two bolts like they were before, and it went smoothly.

good reminder to KISS....keep it simple stupid haha

I did try doing that at first but it wouldn't budge, I think after I fucked around with it some with the drill it broke it loose a little and then I was able to use the pliers.

If I remember correctly the bolt holes on the lbj are all the way thru, if so you probably have corrosion in there. Chase those threads with a tap.

That and hand thread until snug... Then torque

Weird.. I don't remember two washers... I wonder if it was a 'PO' thing.

    Alignment planned after?
