Practice weld on some 1/8 to 1/4 plate. Same sizes as the blocks I'm gonna make tomorrow.

Welded the thinnest stuff I ever did with stick so far. Not sure if this method is a good way to do it or not, but I basically did stitches over the gaps on both sides before I went over the entire gap.

It was a fun challenge. Can you guys believe how thin the metal is on the frame crossmembers?

Looks great! Once the paint and under coating gets applied, no one will notice...even us welders.

It's a quality weld. Move on and never think about it again.

I recently picked up a Miller Multimatic 220 (GMAW/FCAW/GTAW/GTAW-P/SMAW). I haven't picked up an Argon cylinder for TIG, so no comment on that yet. Been pretty busy with other projects and haven't been able to use it as much as I'd like. Planning on getting it fully set up for TIG in the next week or two, will let you know how it works...

If your only looking to do DC Tig not a bad package since everyone wants Aluminum Tig not so much

140 amp machine with a spool gun for aluminum allows 3/16"

As this is a new product I am sure some bugs will need to be worked out.

I also have the Miller 220. Worth every penny. I’ve tried all the process beside stick and they are do as advertised. Also very user friendly. Highly recommend this machine.

First time welding tube together. Where the figment was good the welds look pretty good. Quickly learning that the welding is the easy part of all this haha7AA22BA9-78E3-4ED8-A72B-249151D1C2B3.jpg

Unfortunately I don’t have a 240 plug in the garage which is why I have to go with a lower voltage welder

Nice work. Get some anti-spatter spray to make it easy cleanup.

In 25 years of MIG welding, I've never used anti spatter spray.

Can someone post pics of their welds using the ASS? (Anti spatter spray)

    Thx

Where are you located in Central Oregon? I'm in Bend, was just curious where you get gas/consumables etc.

From what I understand the welds still look the same. Just helps knock the spatter off really easily when you’re done. Pam, the cooking spray, works well for this.
