True. I actually wanted an SR5 DC in manual, cause I wanted to add my own wheels, tires and suspension on my own. TOYOTA is not doing us any favors with the combos.

 

They have their “explanations” as to why but they’re mostly BS reasons such as “too much weight for the manual to handle” and such

 

I have a question. What kinda gas is ovtune running? As in what gas station? Seams like if I run shell it doesn’t like it as much as chevron. Is it just in my head or could it be different enough to change how it drives ? I am on 1.5.1 91 performance. And over 2k miles since the flash

 

I think this is another case of every truck being unique. I’m running 1.05/93 using Shell and it runs like a dream. To be honest though, my truck seems to like any brand that I’ve used...

 

same here, no issues with any brand. 99% of time I use Kroger gas
as the place is super close and we pass it every time I come and go, never
been a single issue with it in any of our vehicles - same station for many
vehicles for us for the last 15 yrs.

 

Just stick to top tier gasoline and it's all pretty much the same. If you are shopping price and get some of the lower quality stuff, you might have issues if you're running high compression engine (such as ours) or other high performance tunes.

Ok thanks for the good info and links. We have always used good fuel in my truck and the wife’s nx200t. 91 since day one on both, my Tacoma seams To like chevron but gets a little less mpg. Not to concerned with mpg so will probably just try and stick with chevron for the most part and they seam to be the most Readily available and cover a lot more area then some here in Idaho.

 

Got a few hundred miles on the tune now. I gotta say, it's definitely helped out a lot. Truck cruises on the interstate way easier, I have to do less shifting, my manual trans shifting is smoother, acceleration is far greater and pulling the boat trailer is MUCH more enjoyable.

 

Toyotas FJ cruiser magnuson supercharged is making 303whp. The Tacoma Naturally aspirated should be with Matts adjustments be making 270whp(with dump pipes). That is pretty incredible for NA v6 Taco...

 

Anyone have any insights if this would pass emissions?

 

Losing the initial catalytic converters, it's not likely to pass an emissions test, though I'm just speculating.

 

Yeah, I know on the Wrx, you could do a full TBE which removes a cat and it will still pass as I believe they have four? Not sure about the tacoma

 

Magnuson said FJ and Tacoma are not in the same ball park.... I beg to Differ. Both v6 and both from Toyota. They are just upset a NA ‘Tuned’Tacoma has very ‘close’ hp/tq numbers to their Supercharged FJ. Not in the same ball park would be hellcat and Civic..

 

I am trying to reflash my truck with a new tune. when I open the p5flash it opens and my id and name are there, but none of the buttons are active? I down loaded the newest installer from ovtune.com. my old p5 and the new one are the same, they don't work! I am 100% sure that it's operator error and I am the operator!
I have restarted my lap top, turned the truck on and off, disconnected the tatrix with truck on and off?
This is why I left the 1.05 87 first release on it cause I am dense when it comes to this crap!

any ideas? thanks for your help in advance!

 

Under "Help", Update.
Under "Config", Install all software.
Under “Tuning”, Install OVTune cable drivers.

 

I did all of that. I watched the video of the set up and followed the directions.
I am going to look at it again soon, I just trying to get the 92 performance tune for a planned outing tomorrow.
