From what I am reading, anything burning fossil fuels will be worthless in 10 years. Might as well drive the hell out of it now.

They might, I don't know. He's very likely going to take to his grave whether he mistook my taco for a Dodge, or if he was throwing shade at my "Jap" truck....

I hope not, it's gonna take me at least that long to build my truck how I want it.

Well, it is all speculation at this point. That is what my (26 year old) son told me today. Obviously it will take more than ten years for ICE vehicles to go away, but no joke, people are saying that. My brother in law said the same thing to me a month ago, like it was a fact.

There's your problem! Just buy a pro, and all you need is window tint to be Moab ready!!

why is this guy even here??….he obviously likes to stir the pot with Taco owners and now owns a Ranger.....I sold my 2015 Lexus RCF and deleted that forum from my computer because why follow what I don't even own anymore?!…...it's like texting your ex after your divorce to ask her how she's doing.....pathetic doesn't even begin to describe this..... BLOCK and/or IGNORE ME cuz I don't want to read your dumb ass threads!

BTW....I owned a 2017 Taco TRD OR 2wd auto and hated the drivetrain back then......sold it and bought a 2015 TRD PRO inferno Auto.....loved it but I wanted the new body style......I now have a 2019 Taco TRD OR 4wd Auto and the drivetrain works great.....cuz I rev the crap outta it and drive it like I stole it......it's all in how you preserve it....AND I saved over 11% off sticker.....The Ranger 4 cyl turbo engine will no doubt have issues down the line.....and I'm sorry but the Ranger looks like a sissy truck compared to my Taco...….can I get a hell yeah?!!!20190327_181725.jpg

That's hilarious. I would assume that a decent chunk of the upper-middle class will have one full electric within the next 20 years (sitting next to their gas car). The idea that ICE vehicles won't be super common throughout at least the millenial generation's lifetime is ridiculous. The only people saying such things obviously don't live where things are 20+ miles away in every direction.

You’d think, but my brother in law lives in a distant suburb of Chicago and is older than me (56). He said “this will be the last gas burning vehicle you buy”. My son said “anything burning gas will be worthless in 10 years”. He lives in downtown L.A. but comes from the burbs. Clearly I do t buy it, but a lot of people do.

Not gonna lie, once I specced out a TRD off-road and realized I was within spitting distance of a pro, there probably wasn't much that was going to sway my decision. The ZR2 is fugly, and the Ranger looks like a jacked up Focus. The Ranger Raptor might be neat, but from the world market stuff i've seen on it.... there's zero chance I would pay upwards of 50k for something that looks like a rally livery jacked up Focus, js.

Do they realize that Tesla is a billionaire's pet project, and is losing money hand over fist? Battery tech has made leaps and bounds in the last 10-15 years, but the biggest issue is infrastructure. To get any real market penetration, aside from the diehard folks, houses have to be built with real charging apparatus, every gas station will need 10 minutes or less quick charging, the US market will need 100+ if not 250+ mile range vehicles that joe schmoe can afford (that don't require a multi-thousand dollar replacement in 5 years), etc. It is the future, but burning dinosaur bones will be a thing until we run out of them.

Thats the problem, the pro is not supercharged, not LT and no real armor

Edit: I have expensive tastes, and cannot afford a pro with all the mods I want. Also I want 37s and 5.29 gears with front and rear lockers

I think things like garbage trucks are doable (short definitive range). I don’t know much about dump trucks, but they are already doing long range tractor trailers. I think from a technology standpoint many things are on the cusp, but from a reality standpoint, it is going to take quite a bit of time, to replace the existing infrastructure. Things won’t become worthless overnight and I doubt this is the last ICE vehicle I will buy.
