I have some understanding of alignment and ive searched a bunch over the last few years but trying to finally understand a few things. I get camber, caster and toe but a little confused so any help is greatly appreciated.
I have king 2.5 coilovers which i feel are moderately set for height and tc uca’s. When i get an alignment im told that the cam bolts are maxed out. I don’t think i should be rubbing, slightly, but still with 255’s and a 4” backspacing. I saw a truck today for instance with 285’s that was about 1 1/2” taller and the axel shaft angles looked great along with the space between cv boot fins. And seemed like enough caster to where the tire was tucked nicely forward of mine. Big spacer lift and stock uca’s.
Is there just not enough adjustability built into the tc arms? Or am i missing something. Thought thats kinda their selling point. The last tech recommended spc but ive also read so much about hack alignment techs on here thought maybe i was just had bad luck.BC97D96C-DF11-4BC3-A33C-5ABEAC4B82E3.jpg
Unfortunately best pic i could get right now. Stock beyond flat leaves and hammer hangers

Post pics of your front suspension. Like to see the preload on your CO's and do a measurement of hub center to fender.

What size tire are you running and how much lift?

21 1/2” hub to fender both sides. 1/2” preload passenger and 5/8” on driver side. 600lb springs. Uca angles look a little steeper in pic then in real life i think. Garage is blocked so cant get it out right now had to get close to take pics. Just wondering if there is more caster built in to arms or more adjustability in cam bolts and i need to go to a different shop or i kinda feel like three shops cant be wrong

And i dont think it was spc he recommended just some sort of adjustable uca. Wondering if these techs aren’t used to something like a tc uca. I tried to give the tc instructions to all shops warning if they try to align to factory #’s you wont get a good alignment. Two said they got it and the first one looked offended lol. Maybe trucks higher than i think

I’m intrigued. You need no lift to run what is basically a 31” tire. Do those uca’s have any built in caster? Hmmm! Let me think about this for a moment.

The jba uca come with 2* of caster built in. Which made it very easy to get factory specs but with 4* I have no running at all. D7A82E72-93E7-4188-9472-D66D7FE65511.jpg

Were they pretty easy to setup/ adjust? At this point still not sure if its techs not fully understanding how to align for aftermarket arms or maybe thats just the best that can be done for my geometry. Thinking i need something like this for 285s

From the measurements you posted (21 1/2) hub to fender, it appears you only have about an inch or so of lift. The aftermarket UCAs added so much caster, the adjustment cams on LCAS have been turned all the way in to get your caster where it is now. Which will cause rubbing on mudflap. With such little lift, you may need closer to 4* caster to get away from the rubbing.

Yea I was thinking maybe 2” looks higher in pic. Think an alignment shop with more experience on modified suspension or modified Toyotas might be able to get the caster #’s a bit higher?

In my opinion, a competent alignment shop is crucial, but not always easy to come by. Just to clarify, are you rubbing in the mudflap behind tires. Any chance you could take a pic of alignment cams/tabs? Any idea how much caster those TC arms add?

I understand the frustration. I run 265/70/17 (31.5" ish). Didn't rub under any circumstance stock. Installed 6112 (roughly 1.75" lift) and JBA uca, went and got aligned. rubbed so bad I never left the parking lot. The added caster on my modest lift resulted in the rear cams maxed "in" which moves wheel back causing the rubbing. thats was at 3.5* caster.
Went up to 3.9* driver, 4.0* passenger, now all good no rub period.

Most independent shops do not know how to align tacomas/toyota trucks because the caster is so high compared to other vehicles. To them spec is 1.2* - 2.7* caster and 1.4* is green they leave it. This has been my experience so far
