I have a Harbor Freight and a Tekton torque wrench. Both of them don’t click when you turn the sleeve.

It spins so if you hit the dial even softly it moves. But it clicks when you reach the spec you set.

It’s nothing like my proto or craftmen.

Oh so it doesn't have any detent for the torque setting? I thought you guys were saying it didn't click when actually torquing a fastener. I've use torque wrenches like that that doesn't have a positive detent for the torque setting, but they usually had a knob on the end of the handle to lock that torque setting. Does yours have that? If not is there anything tbat prevents the sleeve from being moved once set?

The HF ones have the.locking knob on the end of the handle that I was talking about, well the Pittsburg ones do at least, not sure about their new Icon one.

I have the Tekton. There is a lock knob on the end of the unit. You set desired torque, lock it down and use it. It clicks when desired torque is reached. For the price it's the best unit I've used.

What I’m after is the adjustment sleeve clicking when you set torque. Only the Proto one does it.

Just looked up the Tekton. Looks.like it does have the locking knob. So the way yours is working is normal.

If I wanted Chinese tools I’d go go Harbor Freight.

IDK man. After saving 200 bucks I'm pretty sure I can live without the clicking. I've had mine for about 3 years now and it's still going strong.

Made in the USA of Chinese sourced parts.

That’s literally what the fine print says.

Why, it doesn't make a difference, just different design. My old school Husky clickers don't have a locking knobs on the end, tbey have a locking sleeve tbat you pull back on, turn the handle to set the torque, then release to lock in place.

Heck my Snap-On one doesn't even click when you hit the torque, but it's digital, it just beeps & buzzes when you hit the torque but you can still tighten more, nothing limits it except me. Kind of annoying sometimes & is why I usually use my husky ones. Good thing about the Snap-on or any digital is that you don't have to worry about releasing spring tension when storing.
