Yeah, it's got a bit of a rod knock. Not super bad yet which is why I'm hoping I can squeeze a bit more time out of it by replacing the rod bearings. It'll either work or it'll snap the top compression rings on the ring ridge and toast the block and heads, but hopefully I have a good block now to replace it with. I know I have two sets of good heads.

 

My junk yard motor has a slight noise in the bottom end. When I pull the pan to swap to the t100 pan I’ll throw some new bearings in

 

Well hopefully you catch it soon enough no compression sucks

 

Heh, I don't even want to know what the compression is like. Had it checked when I first got the truck and it wasn't exactly stellar. I would imagine after I cooked the block that time at Richloam last June and the time my air box broke and sucked up a bunch of muddy water and leaves, it's probably a miracle that it's still got enough compression to run.

 

who is the guy who does the CMC in central florida? Anyone good in sofl?

What are you guys paying for a cmc ? I'll be throwing on some 285s soon and I'm guessing I'll need to get it done.

 

285s is a toss up. But most likely will. Can even cut the plastics and beat that pinch weld in a bit

 

I'd honestly rather have it and not need it, then need it and not have it LOL.

If i ever decide to get a bigger and better lift and more rubber I'll be more prepared.

Anyone know of a good shop to re gear my 17? Looking to go 4.88. I would usually do anything myself but with this kind of work I’d rather go to someone who’s been there done that before. I’m out of Ocoee, so anywhere Central Florida ish would be good for me, Thanks!

 

Do it and don’t look back lol, I’m running 285’s. Timbo did my CMC but I still need to trim some more plastic, rubbing a little when hard left in reverse.

 

It’s usually the plastic that rubs after. Razor knife and you are set

 

Order assembled diffs from east coast gear and swap them in yourself. Its not too terribly hard. Rear is straightforward. The front you have to wrestle the diff a bit to get the old one out and new one in. They can be swapped in a day.

 

Real talk... I signed up for a 2 year long, Monday through Friday, automotive program which includes dedicated suspension and performance classes... Not for a job... Simply because i hate not knowing how to do things with my own vehicle LOL.

I start in August... Then I'll start having my garage built... with a 2 post lift... Just haven't decided on how big it needs to be.

It'll be at least 24x40... But prolly not bigger than 28x50. Either way it'll be 12' tall on the sides and have 2 10x10 garage doors to drive through it.
