When I walked into the Basil in Mt Pleasant I think I was the only Thai person in the restaurant. If the cook can’t speak Thai it ain’t no Thai restaurant to me

The one in uptown Charlotte is full of Thai people in the kitchen. The owner is also Thai, and a very very nice guy to say the least.

    Thanks
Now I want pad tsee eew (or however Americans try to spell it .. hahahahaha).
I’ve been eating Thai for 35 years, since there were 2 restaurants in Atlanta (Bangkok & King & I- we ate at the former, my father becoming good friends with the Thai siblings that ran it).

Where are GOOD, moderately priced ones around SC?
    I know of 2:
The one behind Chick-fil-a on Haywood (Greenville) & the one behind Taco Bell, across from Hobby Lobby near Westgate in Spartanburg.
The one on the south side of town in Hendersonville is good too.
All 3 are (or were, last time I was there,) Thai ran & 10-15/plate.

I’ve found more expensive places tend to be either non-authentic tasting or just way to much for less quality.

Where is good across the state?
I ALWAYS am looking for good Thai & never know what’s good in different cities. We travel around for baseball & would LOVE to eat at good Thai, rather then Chili’s, Ruby Tuesday, etc. My 8 year old loved pad CU, but struggles to be happy elsewhere, but she has VERY odd tastes for a kid anyways. (Edit- she prefers water over sodas, doesn’t eat much fries, loves grits over most cereals, loves tomatoes & real cheese, HATES American cheese & hot dogs, likes her veggies unseasoned, prefers McD burgers, loves cheap mac & cheese- hating the good stuff-& on. I’ve created many ways to doctor here leftover mac into good- a good salsa on it is good, as is a good, moderate hot hot sauce or a good marinara).
