Most people get chinese knock off grilles. You can order most all pro parts online though.

am I the only one that doesn't mind the cheese grater once the chrome accent is swapped for the black one.

Time will tell. I think Toyota will likely re-release the cheese grater on the 2025 Pro as a “heritage grille”.

It’s looking better as it ages. I might throw mine back on at some point.

I can’t believe in 10 pages of conversation nobody has bought up Toyota Safety Sense (TSS). Any dealership refusing to sell someone a Pro grille is only following Toyota’s instructions. Toyota has told us that the TSS sensors are calibrated for the exact vehicle it is placed on and takes in consideration the sensors position on the vehicle. If you put a Pro grille on a non Pro Tacoma you have just changed the height of the sensor and Toyota doesn’t want any liability if the system doesn’t work properly. I can’t personally say that dropping the sensor down a few inches is really going to make a difference, but that’s what Toyota says. Any dealer that sells a TSS equipped vehicle a Pro grille is putting themselves at risk if that vehicle ever malfunctions and Toyota won’t take responsibility because they have written documentation stating they told the dealers not to do it. As many have stated there definitely appears to be dealers willing to break the rules and sell them anyway, but jails are full of people that were willing to break the rules for a profit. I guess those dealers are the Robin Hood of Pro grilles, but it doesn’t make the dealers that follow the rules bad people.

Below are 3 screen shots from the Toyota Accessory Sales Guide that dealers use to see all available OEM accessories, part numbers, availability, etc... The first screen shot is when I search for a 2017 Pro grille. As you can see it’s available for order with no special instructions from Toyota (because 2016 and 2017’s don’t have TSS.)

Now look what happens when I search for the Pro grille, but use either 2018 or 2019 as my model year. It is now listed as a service replacement part only and the dealer is required to submit all that customer info to the email address I blacked out.

Either that, or Toyota doesn’t really know if it will malfunction or not, and that’s their lawyers talking.

I really haven’t noticed any difference in TSS. Collision avoidance, adaptive cruise control and lane departure all seem to be working as advertised. I don’t particularly like any of these “advanced” features, so I avoid using them. But I know they work.

More than anything else, this Soviet stance Toyota likes to take on these issues is a big turnoff.
