I think you’re right, it was part of the boot/dust cover. Mine was the same way when I replaced the a few months ago.

This one was more for the truck vs to the truck but I got the $99 Craftsman tool chest from Ace. It’s flimsy AF like it’s made out of recycled beer cans and tinfoil but it serves the purpose. Organized all my tools so I don’t spend most of my repair time searching for sockets. Happy Father’s Day to me!

    Big weekend

New shoes and much needed alignment yesterday, way quieter than the unevenly worn KM2s (one worn to almost no tread - ran too long needing an alignment - the other 3 with plenty of tread to be used as a full size spare, and on the M416). 6637FC6F-1CCB-4A2F-852C-DA8DECC6B210.jpg

While out enjoying the quiet ride, this happened - went over 150K. 1E3E4AE8-3E49-463C-B7EC-24B8DA0F33E3.jpg

Then baby brother pulled his older, sick brother out from his previous resting place. Older brother needs some serious Love as he hasn’t run in 5+ yrs.:( Thinking of my options, 1) bring it back to life myself (garage/time deficient), 2) send it out for someone else to bring back to life (leaving me time for the M416 and Taco), or 3) sell  and then go with a 70series RHD import down the road, closer to retirement. :annoyed:

I had that song stuck in my head last week from a reference someone made at work, now you've gone and brought it back

Looks like a fun trip, wish we had waterfalls we could drive up to out here. Have to hike to 'em

Got my 3.4 top end back together this evening. I had a nasty oil leak on passenger side, right on top of the exhaust. Smoked like hell for about the first 10 minutes on every start. I thought it was a cam seal, but after removing the half moon back there, I think that was the source of the oil. Looked like someone had it out before and did a poor job sealing it.

New cam seals, half moons, valve cover gaskets, plugs, several vac hoses, PCV, cleaned IAC + new gasket and plenum/intake +gaskets. Ran great,....after I plugged the MAF back in :anonymous:.

Yeah, the plastic on the wire harness is really brittle. The main body of the protector shattered on the driver side and a 3" piece came off. The rear tab back by the firewall is still good, but the bolt attachments (with the little spacers) were already broken in all but one location, and that one shattered. Between the memory from years of heat/cooling, and all the connectors, it will stay in the correct location. It's still plenty well protected from heat also.

Not too much progress today. Lost a lot of time with the trans cooler line fitting problem. In spite of the issues, I set the AC mounting plate and installed the newer alternator.

the po of my truck had velcro holding a scan gauge on the top of the steering column - not the best position, not horrible either.

Ohh, good idea. Would’ve never thought in that area. Hope it doesn’t interfere with my AFR gauge, I have two pods on the column.

Got some better shots of the work I did on my frame. The black paint is Rust Oleum (oil base) and now there is Fluid Film coating just about every square inch. I want this truck to last as long as possible.

Here's where I'm stopping for today. Tomorrow I've got to figure out the vacuum lines and get ready to drop in the upper intakes.

Pulled my passenger front suspension completely apart. Got the new bushing pressed in the uca and lca. They are back on. Had to get new bolts to hold the spindle to the lower ball joint. Going to put the rest together tomorrow morning then off for an alignment. Got new bolts for the sway bar bushings also since those are being replaced also. Will be nice having a completely rebuilt front end with new tires and wheels. Excited to drive it. Next is set of new rear leafs. Thinking of going Alcan. Looks like I'll need 1-2'' lift in the rear.
