If I ever have to relocate, it must be in a place that has Canes, otherwise I won't go.

Indeed. They just opened a Cane’s in New Braunfels. All I need now is LSU Tiger stadium nearby

All fancy with the plate. I just eat right from the container. Yea, I didn't want to take time to take a picture of mine either, I was ready to eat. Also, I don't get the coleslaw, I order no slaw, extra toast.

My girl is out of town, so dinner for one. It was so yummy. It was reverse seared to 118º internal temp on a pellet smoker, then seared on a gas grill to a perfect medium rare.

Not reading the whole thread, but isn’t all the “leather” in Tacoma’s Synthetic? I don’t think there is any real leather.

Nice work, there is a farm up north you can with a butcher fee get whole animal and just freeze what you can’t keep in the fridge. Have a few friends that want to go in on one but haven’t done it yet. Chickens, cows, sheep, etc. Might need to go for it one day but I don’t have the freezer space for the larger stuff even with dividing it up.

There is some according to earlier posts on the steering wheel on the SR and as you go up in trim there is more. I’ll see if I can find it

    Edit found it From @970btu
“Details of non-vegan trim options for this vehicle
Unfortunately, the following interior and trim options are not vegan:
Toyota Tacoma truck SR5 - Leather-wrapped steering wheel.
    • Toyota Tacoma truck TRD - Leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear shift knob.
    • Toyota Tacoma truck TRD OFF ROAD - Leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear shift knob.
    • Toyota Tacoma truck TRD PRO - Leather-trimmed seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear shift knob.
    • Toyota Tacoma truck LIMITED - Leather-trimmed seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear shift knob.”

so your ok with the killing of the animal as long as you don't have to see it? its already done replacing it with after market and throwing away the original just means the animal that died truly did for no reason. so getting the SR is your only option for no leather anything to begin with. if your willing to buy it with animal products and then through them away just to make yourself feel better your not a vegan your just a hipster that likes to appear to give a dam about animals.

There are different approaches among vegans. I like to do what I can to reduce the suffering, even if I can't be perfect about it. Regarding perfume and makeup, I think there must be some vegan lines, I'm not sure. Personally I try to avoid sugar for health reasons, and when I can I use Stevia. Being a vegan is much easier now I imagine than it was in the past. Many options available.

Glad to hear you had a vegan friendly meal. I just came back from a place in Dallas called Pizza Lounge. We had 3 delicious pizzas with vegan cheese and sausage. Dad and family loved it.

Honda is good quality I hear, but I'm looking for something with a truck chassis. Also Tacoma is higher up from the ground I think, and is more popular so I guess cheaper parts and much more aftermarket mods.

    Apparently there are caveats.

I'm still trying to figure it out, but it sounds like SR will be good. Wasn't exactly sure what I was going to do, whether to buy it and switch out the parts, or or come up with some other solution, like Nissan Frontier. Will see. I figured the reason Frontier for example doesn't have leather is probably not because of caring for animals, but just by chance, I assume. Toyota seemed like the better truck, so if I give my money to Nissan maybe I'll actually be supporting the worse company who by accident happened to be vegan. At the same time, if something has leather it came from a bad source. Hard to figure out and not sure I know the answer to this sort of problem. But hopefully I can just get SR and solve the issue.

Pretty sure it's synthetic leather; at least in lower trim models. Welcome to TW btw.
Toyota does put genuine leather in some of their products, so buying anything from them in reality is technically supporting the use of leather in their products, so I wouldn't stress much if only small components of the vehicle really do happen to have real leather personally.

Just think if this was the 1960's.....
    Wait, What?
I truly don't get the vegan stance, think back to caveman time, what did they eat, seems that it was a completely natural meal, what ever it was. All animals on Earth kill to eat, you are killing the vegetable that you eat, what's the difference? Ask a tomato plant how it feels to be eaten, ask a cow how it feels to be eaten... same answer. Without predators, there would be no life.....

Thanks for the answer. SofTex is used by Toyota which is synthetic.
The challenge from any manufacturer is there is only one half of one percent in the US that are vegan of vegetarian. Figure half of those don't drive and the market is just not enough market. Good luck though!

I think your statistics might not be accurate or maybe older. Here is what a vegan organization that I donate to wrote to me in a recent email, I assume it is probably accurate unless someone tells me otherwise:

"The Vegetarian Resource Group just released the results of their Harris poll estimating the number of adult vegetarians and vegans in the U.S.
The poll found that 4% of U.S. adults are vegetarian (including vegans) and 2% are vegan. That means 5.1 million adults consider themselves to be vegan!
This is up from the 2016 poll, which estimated 3.7 million U.S. adults to be vegan. Between polls, the adult U.S. population increased by about 3.5% while the U.S. adult vegan population increased by about 37%. The number of vegans is growing!"

You assume an e-mail is correct? Was there a study or a survey cited? I don't think that you understand how research works...

Animals arent killed for leather appointments in vehicles. The first priority is always meat, to be eaten. If a cow is to be slaughtered, it's a benefit that other parts of the animal can be harvested for other uses. Instead of the hides going to the landfill they are used for "leather trimmed" seats, steering wheels, shift knobs, and other leather products. Animals will always be killed for food, that will never change. Why not utilize other useful parts of an animal carcass instead of letting it go to waste?

I'm sure that the number is growing and I understand. However, believing statistics published by the same group is never a good idea. For example, when researching Tacomas, would you only read Toyota's literature? Here's some nine month old data conducted by a 3rd party and published by a 3rd party. https://www.forbes.com/sites/niallm...ans-and-vegetarians-infographic/#3dd4c5cf211c

Would the people publishing the data benefit from the data results? If the answer is yes, find another data source.
