Thought I'd report back on my posting from a couple weeks ago where I bought a used Prinsu rack from this thread but came with bare aluminum bars.. First all Thanks to all who offered advice for all advice. To close the door on this, I just got my now powder coated Prinsu bars back from RC Coating in San Jose. Cost was $150 to powder coat all 8 bars and work was done in under 2 weeks. Had a choice to get a close color match to truck for no extra cost but stayed with black to match the top rack I already had on the SnugTop. Quality is excellent and as picture shows, the powder coat got 100% coverage into the T-slots which would not have been possible with a rattle can. Minor drawback is the power coat also went about a 1/4"into the threads so took a little extra torque to screw everything back together but may act like Loctite to keep things from vibrating loose. RC Coatings also does the ceramic coatings but owner recommended against it as being nearly 2X the cost and would not guarantee the color would not fade in sunlight.

 

FS Headstrong 3 leaf AAL mounted to stock leaf springs - $250



I put these on my truck less than a year ago and since decided to go with Dakars instead. Stock springs were replaced by dealer per service recall 18 months ago and has less than 30,000 miles on them, the HS AAL has less than 10,000 miles. I did not mount the Tacoma overload spring but if you want to add it you’ll have a 7 leaf pack but may need a longer center bolt (available from Headstrong). Advertised to give 1.5” lift without the overload spring and 2.0” lift if you add the overload spring. Not shown but also include the Headstrong U-bolts in original shrink wrap as I did not need the extra length when not using the overload spring.
