Interesting. I have one of the Lifetime 52L coolers and one of the Ozark Trail 52L coolers and have not experienced this with either one. Are you filling the coolers to the top with ice?

I have this happen when my Rtic 45 sometimes. If it gets to that point, i just crack open one of the drain caps enough to relieve the pressure, then tighten it back up.

How are you liking it so far? I have been thinking about snagging one for 3-4 day camping trips.

I love my RTICs, have the 20? and 45?. You have to realize they are not magical super coolers but they do hold ice longer than walmart coolers and are much more durable.

Definitely all I am looking for. Would have a smaller one just for meat/food, so it would be opened 3 times a day max.

Ditto here, on the RTIC 45. mine rides in back of my truck 24/7. I keep it stocked with water and drinks for the guys. free ice at work, I put in 3-4 bags a week during hot months. opens / closes a lot every day. room temp bottles of water going in kills the ice. I usually stock it at night, and ice up in the AM.

My Pelican coolers have a valve connected to the latches. Open the latch, (easily with one hand), the pressure gradient equalizes, and open like normal.

Only has 2 weeks. In those 2 weeks, the 3 times of use- Baseball in Aiken & Charleston & once when working in Honea Path (couldn’t find another to keep my food cold), it’s been far better than the old cheap ones I’ve used.
The cooler stayed cold when the 2 smaller cheapers melted & got hot- in a few hours, so was quite hot.
It wouldn’t make it 3 days in my use (hot days, hot car, frequent opening, & sticking in hot drinks- basically the opposite of the 5-day tests).

I got the size to hold 2 liters vertically, plus waters & gatorades/electrolyte drinks. I wish there was the same thing smaller- hold a 2L sideways, but still locks tight, as that would suit 75-80% of my usage- 1 day of a 2L, plus couple of 20oz.

I’ve been very happy with the Lifetime branded one.

I do like the clamping lock system, which works well in a foldable canvas cart & by kids. It’s pretty fail-safe to use.
I’m cheap & don’t want to spend more on something than I need, but still don’t mind spending fir quality when appropriate (like car/truck parts, what needs to be functional.

If I needed 3-5 days of cold in SC heat, I’d look at the RTIC or Pelican brands, or Yeti- with lots of reading to balance cost & quality to meet my needs.

For now, the $78 Lifetime works great for me.

I've seen those, always wondered if it worked well. Cabellas brand coolers actually have a pressure relief button on them.

Someone online makes a stainless steel button that replaced one of the drain caps for yeti.. but I've seen mixed reviews for it.

Also, let me check but I think all you have to do is turn the bracket around and BAM no tonneau mount. I'll look when I get home if someone didn't steal it out of my front yard.

Matt is suddenly slammed with offers ...
(I want the 20 ... but low cash levels. I’ll have some Friday, though. I’m 10 miles from the SOS shop.)
