Sorry to hear that! My guess is they added dye on the first visit, checked/fixed on the second. They swapped my dyed oil out but I still may go under there with a black light and see what I can find. I hope they did a good job for ya!

Not yet, I was supposed to hear back within 30 days of receiving their confirmation letter (last Wed was day 30). I reached out to my case manager last Wednesday and left a message with another associate.

Have not heard from corporate regarding a decision or an inspection. I hope to hear back from them soon. Fingers crossed they are working on making something happen about it.

Probably just jerking you around while they take their sweet time to give you a rejection letter.

Do you mind giving us a short overview of your case, unless you're not allowed to discuss it?

Mine? No NDA signed. Bought a 2017 Ford Escape, had a cracked valve cover and oil leak, which I suspect caused the valves to get damaged and eventually led to the replacement of the engine and turbo.
Was in the shop for close to 9 months... Out of 2.5 years.
Sent demand letter for lemon law around Jan 1st of this year (2 year ownership mark), got a refund check and turned in the keys to the local Ford dealer the day after I bought a Tacoma a few weeks ago. 6 months after demand letter.

Refund entailed all costs for the purchase including taxes and bank finance charges, 6 months of insurance (could have fought for 9 but it evened out with other stuff), Some aftermarket stuff (still salty over this, but state doesn't force them to), and some rental car/moving truck expenses (paid for movers because i was stuck with a focus loaner or something, couldn't use my personal vehicle with a hitch and trailer).

In the end I didn't have to lose depreciation on a trade in and I got them to waive the $1000 usage fee (only had like 4k miles before problems started showing up).
I'm probably out a total of $1000, but I consider that fair play since I didn't lose my ass depreciating a Ford.

Ah I see, thank you. So your case was basically an automatic win because of the "days in shop" clause in lemon laws.

I just got my letter from Toyota Corporate,

They do not feel I have a valid claim regarding defective product(s) or workmanship and are taking no further action. Although they did thank me for being a customer.

It's got to go back in for the following work:

Planned for Next Visit: Parts Fixed / Replaced / Added (Date TBD):
    • Rusty Pinch Weld Body Work
    • High Pressure Fuel Pump
    • Glass Repair
    • Wheel Repair
    • Felt added to steering wheel cover
    • Felt added to passenger a-pillar
    • PDR repair on body
    • Show videos of electrical issue
    • Valve Cover oil leak/seal displaced
    • Re-do sh*tty exhaust work (solid bolt replacing 1/2 of junction where spring bolt was located)

    ...and call my lawyer.

It's been in the shop 51 days total to date, and I'd imagine it'll be in for a bit more when I bring it back in. At this point if I win I will take my $$ back, buy a beater (maybe a Dodge) and a house and move on.
It's true, they aren't what they used to be.

Yep. Day 35. had me thinking they were doing a thorough review. All they reviewed was paperwork, didn't bother actually inspecting the vehicle, I included all photos and videos I had of electrical gremlin and everything, at least now we all have it in writing to know what makes the cut in terms of workmanship, materials, and quality.

Same thing here. They are just dragging their feet and delaying, hoping your time to file a claim expires. Call an attorney immediately and get a case started. Toyota is a joke and they have zero interest in customer service. You and I are just another number to them.

Exact same thing here. Just form letters they send out, hoping you will be cowed and go away when the denial letter comes. They didn't even mail the denial to me as of yet, just emailed me a PDF.

I was working with an attorney previously, whom I have emailed. Also called the Service Manager to setup my next service visit, it'll be fun pointing out the sh*t job they did on the exhaust system too. After getting several bullsh*t angles from the GM about "hearing things" to "Minnesota has really hard winters" to "our technicians are ASE Certified and that means they know what they're doing", I may just find him and show him the exhaust photos and ask "this is the quality of work your certified technicians do eh?"

Bullshit is the operative rule at car dealers and manufacturers. Both sides are scum. I don't know why people think some company based on the sales model they follow is going to honor any of their promises. They're no better than those telemarketers who make it next to impossible to cancel your subscription.

The 23 people who think this is acceptable must all be related and intermixed.

The most enjoyable sentence from their letter was that they don't feel there are any defects in the workmanship or materials of my vehicle.

That must be why the hood had to be re-glued and the tailgate needed to be patched with a weld and re-painted and a bolt fell out on the floor when it was disassembled at the body shop.

Sorry just getting here. So Toyota wrote a letter stating the above... with the leak you pictured?
