    I use my Genesis all the time even to smoke, and have 3 Weber 22" kettles plus a Weber Smokey Mountain. In fact used it last night to cook a steak, romaine and part of onion. All with some Pitfaced rub on it.

    [IMG]

    Skip the Igrill stuff, Thermoworks all the way. That is my Smoke attached to the grill above. The girls in @TownvilleTim life were kind enough to get him the signal which is a step above the Smoke. You also want an instant read again Thermoworks I use the thermopop have 3 of them. One of these days will get the Mark IV but just went to get the link to the website and see they now have one that does IR also.

    My Genesis is about 10 years old and still kicking strong. It has 4 burners actually it has a sear station. Not sure if they still offer them but I use the sear station a lot. For searing :) And use the additional space to do 2 zone cooking even though cooking usually just for me. I use grillgrates and remove a section to put the smoke box directly on the burner. Yes you can smoke with a gasser

    [IMG]

    Reverse sear once the steak hits 130° I move it from the indirect zone and put it over the left burner and sear burner

    [IMG]

    There are a LOT of accessories for the Webers.

    Rotiserrie

    [IMG]

    Cook bacon on the griddle in the summer

    [IMG]

    I even use the side burner often. Because bacon, mushrooms and onions

    [IMG]

    Nothing wrong with the gasser at all. It is not as good as a dedicated smoker for smoking. And doesn't have the flavor of charcoal but the grillgrates get it close. When I am cooking delicate proteins I will often use the gasser

    [IMG]

    If I had to keep only one grill it would be the Genesis. Great choice :thumbsup:

    @Cold Iron
    Ok Expand on the grill grates
    Sear Station I have not seen a model with that on/ in it.
    I do like the side burner for when it is needed but they seem to only go on grills that are much larger then I will need, unless you know of one of their line that does.
    The Temp controller I am guess is more for smoke, in direct cooking ie tinfoil wrapped etc ?

    I do steaks various cuts, burgers, hot dogs, chicken various cuts ,Seafood, veggies and potatoes , occasional cast iron flat top on the grates .
    So with that info ...:}

    Yeah, I broke my right big toe back in the 80's when I used to fight full contact karate. I front kicked a guy(going for the liver shot) a little too high and pointed my toes instead of curling and stuck my toe right into his breast bone. <CRACK!>
    Hope yours heals soon.

    Nice system !
    Pretty close to mine that I finished a couple of months ago :}
    I7 8086 6 Core
    Asus ROG XI Formula
    Twin EVO 970 1 TB M2
    Twin Evo 860 500 GB
    32 GB Corsair 3600
    Radeon 580 RX 8GB :{ The card I want is 1200 ish still 2080 TI
    Water cooled with thermaltak Floe Ring
    Thermaltake View 71 RGB
    Still running Dual Dell 22" Monitor but that is the next upgrade :} ASUS ROG PG279Q 27" Gaming Monitor WQHD 1440p IPS 165Hz

    So it seems another geek is around though not my primary job .:}

    I have never heard of NWFalcon but I have built my own systems for years .. lol yeah being my own tech support for hardware issues is getting old :{ But since my machine before the new one was ohh somewhere about 10 plus years old well hope they are still in business then and I might give them a whirl :}

    Hey now I still run WoW so pfft!!!!

    See above lol on desktop upgrades as for machines lol 7 total not counting tablets but I am getting rid of one and one of the 7 has been torn down for an upgrade it houses mutltimedia drives .

    Even Moore's Law is out dated :}

    I like my 22's but umm I can't sit back far enough or close enough for some things and do not want to go to trifocals or special just pc glasses just yet lol

    Yep you can tune up with cpu, mem, drive , vid card if you build the right way from the start far cheaper then replacing a machine every 2 years :{

    I can't say I ever cleaned HD platters but I can say I know exactly how heavy a 10MB MFM drive is and I may or may not have timed the read / write heads on floppy drives ....might even have installed CPU cache chips once upon a time :}

    How is that for a multi quote geek out :}

    Not real sure I have the skill set for smoking with a gas grill or with out lol but perhaps when I retire I might give it a go. Or if I can find a book " Idiots guide to smoking with a gas grill" :}

    We have the 2 burner version, it's a fantastic grill. Ours has a round area in the middle that has different inserts, we have the griddle, pizza stone and wok, mostly just the griddle gets used.

    Anyone interested in ThermoWorks buy direct from them or authorized dealer. Read this notice from their website.

    Their service is evidently great. My daughter dropped her Thermapen on a hot burner and melted it. Still worked but they repaired it for her for $25.

    You get them whitened?

    They tried to get me to do that but it is a lot of upkeep. I am in the process of getting 2 implants and if I start whitening, and I stop, the implants will look out of place.
    Same if I whiten after the implants.

    But my yellow teeth just add to my creepiness

    Me too, it's one of my favorite things, actually all things dairy really. I became allergic to whey protein about 10 years ago so it limits me to pretty much aged cheeses that have little to no liquid. I do cave sometimes to pizza or cheese on a burger but it's a real crapshoot on how I will feel afterwards.
