RCI Rear Bumper Light ?

I have an RCI bumper ordered like in the pic below. I don't want to spend the money on the Rigid SR-Q backup lights that go with it. Does anyone have this bumper or know of a cheaper Amazon light that will fit?

 

I have this bumper, but I bought the Rigid lights.

What I can tell you, is that the mounting screw holes are slotted, so there's room for variations.

Also, if the cutout size is similar or smaller than the Rigids, you should be fine. Attached are the Rigid dimensions.

How do you like the bumper?

 

Yes, the flush mount. I did the SR-Q Midnight Edition and really like them. Overall, the bumper is great. I sometimes think I should have kept the factory plastic... but I look at it again, and I'm reassured that the plate steel looks better and more rugged/masculine.

 

@DFA1 In in the same boat af you, NY bumper should arrive in a couple of days. Did you end up finding a solution? Also do you or @Bertw192 happen to have the dimensions of the cutouts fit the lights? Thanks for any help!

 

Might be hard to meassure with the lights in the hole, but I'll see what I can do.

 

I would certainly appreciate it. Also, how do they mount? Are there holes on either side of the main cutout for the flush mount, or is there some ledge on the back side they mount to?

 

They are approximately 2"x5". There are mounting holes on either side of the main 2"x5" hole, that overlap with it and create more of a slot.

Why do you sometimes miss the plastic? Looks alone? Seems like the primary reason for getting thus bumper would be increased rear clearance while maintaining the ability to tow (albeit the RCI towing capacity is “unrated”)

 

Looks, resale and BSM.

The looks I waffle on. I liked the painted OEM bumper, but it definitely isn't as utilitarian/burly as a steel plate bumper.

 

curious what you don't like about this bumper. i have it on order, i want to understand why one person on the internetz is sorta meh about it.

i know you can call up RCI and pay extra to not have holes cut into it, but it seems like a pain to deal with since I ordered via Truck Brigade. I plan on plugging up all the holes with steel and then having it powder coated. I don't have the sensors for the smaller hole in my truck and i dont like plastic. I may cut holes for some Baja Design lights, IDK. I already have some backup lights mounted up on my canopy rack so I really don't need them.

 

Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm very happy with the RCI bumper, and I'm confident you will be too. I was just saying that every once in a while, I miss the OEM painted bumper. Regardless, I'd still get the RCI bumper, if I were to do it all over again.

It's possible to like two aesthetics at the same time. Similarly, I had a sportbike and a cruiser. I ended up getting rid of the cruiser, because I preferred the sportbike and rode it more. Sometimes I still miss the cruiser. Like the OEM bumper, it wasn't bad, it was just a different style, that I sometimes preferred, depending on my mood.

 

Your bumper will come with fill plates for the light holes and plastic plugs for the sensor holes.



However, I don't like the look of the filler plates, as they stand out. If you have the skills, I agree that it would look best to weld them solid. I look forward to seeing what you do. Of course post pictures.

 

Well it looks great to me on your truck! I'm looking forward to not dragging those stock towing hook in points across the rocks everytime I go off roading. Was just out yesterday and it happened again. 4 additional inches of clearance, now that is something!

 

yeah my ex-brother in law (yeah my sister can be an idiot sometimes lol) is a really skilled welder who used to build trailers for years and he said he can close up any of the holes in the thing I want.

 

For sure. That was a huge motivation for me and why I initially wanted a hidden hitch bumper. See my original post below.

Dragging the hitch was jarring and made terrible noises. I've also heard of people doing more damage to the truck than just scraping the paint off the hitch. I think in the true crawling thread, someone said it caused the bed and canopy to contact the cab and busted a window. No bueno.
