Another Weber Genesis owner here. Best propane grill I've had and this one is about 5years old. I opted for stainless steel grates. It gets used year round.

 

Just adds to the flavor. There's nothing like having 90 wt. on your hands and eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. The smell of the oil and peanut butter.....mmmm...

And they offer it with a side burner also. Just checked the military exchange and they are no better in price. I got mine there about 10 years ago at end of year clearance for about half that price although it is a Gen 1.

Great point Tim! Unfortunately it applies to most grilling and cooking things, and many others anymore. Grillgrates, thermoworks, Vortex, Slow N Sear, all of them are taking a beating from Chinese knockoffs on Amazon that are not near the same quality.

Even that is more work than a lot of my cooks have been over the years. And likely yours too

Packed the wood in it is oak as the boreal forest of pines, spruce, and larches in the far North doesn't provide the best wood for cooking over flame.

 

There are few better. I just like your techniques, I have employed a few myself. I like the brine idea, I have heard it but now I want to try it.

 

Damn bud I work for the state lol . I will have to think about it some before I lay out that much I like the sear station and debate the attached side burner or just get a dedicated 2 burner for use . I was looking at the top end about 500 :} But I know the rules here so lol :} Something like this for the occasional use

You guys are making me hungry for some bacon wrapped corn on the cob. Made on the grill.

I do have a piece of expanded metal just for an occassion. Rocks, dry wood/sticks and meat are easy to find...

Just pull the trigger. You're going to be so much happier once you get a nice cooker.

 

Look on Craigslist for a used one. And you could build it up from there.

I have a Cabelas gas stove although kind of big for the blind You do have to be careful of wind with them. Cabelas has gone down hill since I got mine but have the 3 burner and the high wall cast iron griddle for it. The griddle weighs 60 lbs. but once it gets up to temperature it sure can cook some bacon



No matter which stove you get always make sure your stove has room for the coffee pot in the morning while your cooking scrapple for breakfast.

Smoker works too With atomic buffalo turds. And a steak.





Corn season is a long ways out yet. Tried some store bought stuff last week and had zero taste. Can't wait until the farmers start selling it out of the back of pickup trucks! Roadside stands work too.

 

Is that crab meat in with the ABTs?

 

I have some faux carbon fiber naugahyde. Not adhesive backed. Will post pics in the morning.
