Grill Paint!

Hey Guys, I installed a grill craft mesh grill on my truck and I want to paint it flat black. Has anyone done this and what is the best way to do so...

I'm getting ready to do a satoshi this weekend as well, but I'm colormatching my grill SW

After the primer dries, should I sand the primer as I sanded the grill (320 - 400 - 600 - 800 etc to 2000)? or just hit it with the basecoat straight up?

Just a heads up- I have flat black rims and sliders on my truck and they always look dirty unless they're wet or have tire shine on them. I say don't mess with the GC, it probably won't look too much different anyways.

I used a black sandable primer. If you are color matching, especially a lighter color, a gray filler primer would be best. After the primer coat, you can see if you have any imperfection in the bondo that your fingers can't feel. You can apply and sand any additional glazing putty to fill in any fin pin holes, etc and reprime. You would sand with 800 or 1000 grit, tack it off and then shoot base color in thin coats. I've would use 2000 grit to smoothen out the base color before shooting the clear coat and then buff after the clear is applied and dried.

 

Ok, thanks man! I have a white generic primer from Ace, its not called filler primer tho. I'll go look for sandable filler primer. I also got Adhesion promoter from Duplicolor, so I'll use that before the primer coat right?
