Why is that something to consider? It's not like you're ever going to experience sudden accel. It doesn't happen, even the NHSTA, who was supposed to witch-hunt Toyota for Ray LaHood, said all the complaints were due to pedal misapplication.

Unintended acceleration is made up and never happened.

Stared down this path with Toyota today.

Called the 1800 #, talked to the guy. He got my info, I told him what was up, gave him the VIN. He did say it looked like it was due for the pedal thing.

Having a couple TSB issues as well.

Getting the diff whine @ about 55 mph, don't think there should be to much trouble there. Problem exists, it's supposed a 60mo/60K PT warranty thing.

    Getting the squeaks.

Was wondering about the rear leaf spring TSB, but upon closer inspection I don't think it applies to the Regular cab models, anyone know?

That's interesting I need to look into this, I had not planned on getting the recall done to my truck. I have weather tech mats and I have no issues with my gas pedal sticking.

Took my truck in for the 10000 mile service and got the pedal recall done. I took my floor mats out before I went down there but the guy said all I had to do was sign a waiver to keep the floor mats. I think they gave me a new gas pedal, I can't tell it's been cut but it's a lot smaller than before. The did the ECU reflash and now my transmission does not have the shifting problem at low speed anymore. I'm very pleased with the modifications they did. :headbang:

On second much closer look (at the pic I took) I can see where the pedal was cut but if you weren't looking for it you wouldn't be able to tell. Very professional job. I'll post the pic after I get my camera and figure out how to put it on here.:)

You have had no problems with this? How it felt underfoot or such?

Can't tell the difference between the cut pedal and the old setup as far as feel and operation.

That's what mine, and most who have the cut peal looks like.

A chop job...and unacceptable in a brand new 30 thousand dollar truck. IMHO

Just returned from having the recall work done. It is a chop job, no doubt, but it is as good as it can be done. I didn't feel anything different about the pedal and unless I look close, I would be hard pressed to see an issue. I am pleased with the results.

They also flashed the trans and so far it seems to shift much nicer now on slow turns. Much more smoothly than before.

When I dropped it off I also told them about the TSB for the harsh ride, and how the truck bottoms out with about 900 lbs of weight. I discussed it a little with the service rep and then I just left it. I was prepared for a fight but when they called me because the recall work was completed, they told me that they would do the work, no problem, but unfortunately they would have to order the parts and I would have to come back next week. This was at McGeorge Toyota in Richmond VA. I must say that my buying experience and now my service experience with McGeorge Toyota has been nothing but great. Wonderful group to deal with.

Did the dealership say anything when you declined the work being done ? Did they make you sign anything ?

I just got my letter from Toyota 2 weeks ago and thinking about declining the pedal being shortened also.

No not at all. I was in to get an inspection, and they asked if I wanted to pedal done as well, I was like...ummm, no, I don't have any issues with it. He was like ok, no worries. But with all the talk about the resell ability and all that junk, I think I just may have it done. You are all right, it is a hack job, but the pedal is in an area you will almost never really see. Would you get pissed if you scratched the inside of your console? Hell no, you will never see it anyway!

Is it possible to flash the ECU without the pedal shave?
