more power

ok so ive done my intake exhaust what else can i do or get more power out of my 2.7 without turbo or s/c

 

when i had my 99' taco i had the 2.7 in it and i put a full length header on it. i bought it from downyoffroad. that made a noticeable difference. i only did it because the factory manifold was cracked and the header was cheaper. but i was sure glad i did it after wards. not that hard a job either.

On a more serious note, do you have A/C? How much do you enjoy your A/C? When I still had my mustang, I got a new belt to eliminate the A/C compressor pulley and it allowed the motor to free up a little bit. Never did a dyno so I don't really know how much it helped. Also not sure if you can do this with a Tacoma as I usually only see people do this mod to muscle cars.

what do yall think about the maf calibrator

 

that will probably be one of the biggest power improvements, besides a sc/turbo setup. its a bit expensive, but set up the right way...should be very noticeable. even with the stock map they use........should do well.

stock map, is there a different map where you can adjust it

 

i think you can get them from urd, and i also think you have to have it hooked to a lap top to adjust everything. im not 100% sure on this, but i believe thats how it works.

nah.....i got an 04......i dont think they have them for the first gen. tacomas, but i dont really need one anyway. about the only thing i ever change performance wise on a car or truck is intake and exhaust. i dont like messing with the electronics too much.

 

i see, well you wouldnt know how hard it would be to adjust the maf sensor, or would i have to call urd

 

im pretty sure they send detailed install and adjustment instructions, but they also have their tech help line too incase you run into any problems.

 

For 'more power': if you have a cap, take it off; if you don't, take off the tailgate and put on a net. It'll feel like a new truck.

 

mythbusters did a thing about that. only helps to leave the tailgate on. it creates a cabin effect with the actual tailgate. yeah getting a net would make it lighter, but thers nothing there to create that cabin effect with it on.
