It would probably get mad, unless the ADD acuator in the front diff will be able to lock in. I don't know if I would recommend it though. Easiest place to start with diff problems is draining the gear oil and checking the condition and see how much metal there is in the oil itself

Yah, if the truck was bone stock, would be easy enough. The thing has Nitro 4.88s (yeah yeah yeah, it's been wheeled before) so I would have to do both front + rear. I have to admit, I really like how the truck drives with the 4.88s. Looks like 2WD for me in the forseeable future.

Draining the diff oil is easy enough, I can certainly start there.

Wouldn't have to do front and rear if you contact east coast gear supply. Try giving them a call. They are a nitro dealer. Any idea when the truck was regeared? I think nitro has a 2 year warranty on their ring and pinions.

It was definitely a long time ago, previous owner (and only owner) did most of its wheeling back when the truck was new. It has been pretty domesticated since like 2010 (when kids showed up in his life). Thanks for the referral on the shop. I really wanted to narrow it down to being the diff before bringing it to a place like that. I was hoping I could remove the driveshaft and make sure it DEFINITELY isn't the transfer case before moving down to the front diff. I just had the e-brake rebuilt by my mechanic to make the truck is safe for street use and I was assured it wasn't the CV (because I thought that might be the culprit).

    Thanks again everyone.

Nah, I have a boring Subaru WRX for that since I have to drive my 1 year old daughter around. The Taco is just my new to me homeowner/compost/dump truck.

Confessions: I also own a 2008 Ridgeline which my brother ended up taking over as a daily. He likes that POS so much he leaves his 2017 Porsche outside and garages the Honda. I really like that 1G Ridgeline. It's incredibly useful.

    Thanks!

Best thing I did with my subaru was leaving it at the dealer and never going back. Fuck those motors.

@dc welding is the guy I go to! Amazing work!

Should I bring a stripper pole and tear off track pants too, or do you think that's overboard?

Hey guys. We are headed north the the week of 4th of July. Hitting up lake placid, Stowe, Mt Washington, Portland, Boston, etc... Basically just a big loop. Any suggestions on places to camp in between stops or any cool, off the wall, must see destinations?

You can camp at Tripoli Rd in NH. Iirc it's first come first serve, but easy to get to. In Portland the thing to do is park and just be a fat fuck eating and drinking your face off. Best restaurants, brewery, bars in the north east. If you like beer you need to hit Bissell Brothers in Portland.
