    Are there any high mileage S/C owners in here? I’m trying to gauge the lifetime of a S/C Tacoma. Is 200k a lot to ask for?

    I know how it always go with “I’ll just keep it stock” :laugh:. But honestly I wouldn’t do anything beyond the 2.85 pulley and some fuel upgrades.

    I take Solace in the 2nd gen Tacoma being a popular truck. Hopefully there will be lots of 2012-2015 donor engines available for mine if the frame is still good at 200k if something should go wrong.

    Exactly.

    So my truck is heavy with front bumpers, skids, sliders, blah blah. All that stuff. Even have a snorkel. So I’m one of those “overlanders”. Someone give it to me straight, will it be worth it? I know worth is subjective but I don’t really mean it in a monetary way at least. Will a armored truck with bigger tires really appreciate the S/C? I know there are tons of people that don’t have one and do WAY more than I think I would ever do.

    I have big tires, skids sliders plate bumper and I still break some hearts from people who think their sports car is fast. I’m still on stock gearing and the supercharger makes that work just fine. Now offroading I do wish I was regeared, but on the streets its no biggie, just more skinny pedal. So 10/10 worth it, just be ready for al the other mods you will want to do once you get it. Also never add up the price of all these mods. It is best to buy one at a time and throw away the receipts.

    Worth it every bit IMO. Longevity depends on how you use it. There's a lot of 1st gen supercharged tacomas with high mileage and still going strong even with mods similar to what we are doing today on the 2ng gens.

    TRD S/C, UCON, 61# inj, 2.5 pulley, 7th inj, Roostfactor Y Pipe, URD exhaust, WAT Nomad Valve body, Dana 60, DK LT, JD FAB LCA mounts, custom roof rack...and way too many others.
    I have 180K miles on my supercharger and FJ......But I just replaced the engine, so you'll have to throw my experiences out. Not because the engine and supercharger aren't reliable. I'm chalking this one up to negligence. I had an inter cooler pump go out and drove for thousands of miles without boost cooling and with large load imposed by large tires and extra weight.

    Edit to follow up on your later post, it is totally worth it. I think in stock s/c configuration the engine is amazingly reliable. Even with a lot of mods the engine is a workhorse.

    What the heck is it about Mustangs where they seem to suddenly just lose control over their steering and swerve across the road? Surely they don't all have that much power that a little throttle results in loss of control

    Maybe it's more to do with the drivers of Mustangs lol
