The extended length RCD/Bilsteins will also work with the Dakar leaf pack but longer brake lines are needed and possible bump stop modification but you get more droop from the pack.

So with an aal you can do the OME nitrocharger sports in the back or the standard length 5100's but the B110's would not be appropriate.

ARB has recently changed their coils so we are reworking our lift height guide. This is what we have come up with so far. These numbers are based on customer feedback and should only be used as a guide and not gospel.

NOTE: The lift achieved from any kind of spring, whether it is a leaf spring or a coil spring, is a variable lift. Meaning that the amount of lift achieved can vary. Depending on the condition of your factory components (where applicable), how they respond to the added suspension, the overall weight of the vehicle and any add-ons added (bumpers, batteries, tool boxes, covers, light bars, skids, sliders, etc) and manufacturing tolerances of the spring themselves can all influence how much lift you can see from either spring. We provide the average after settled lift height that we have seen from clients running the suspension but with averages some people get more or less lift.

These numbers are based on the 5100's being set at the 0 setting. Yes the Bilsteins are adjustable by changing the notch setting up on the shock body. However by doing this with a lift coil, you compound lift. So instead of seeing around 0.85" (on the 2nd gen 5100's) or 0.65” (on the 3rd gen 5100's) of extra lift you may see an 1"+ more lift. Plus there are other issues at play here like potential coil bind issues. Also by adding additional preload you can affect the ride quality as well.

If wanting to run the OME nitrocharger sport shocks people are seeing AROUND ¼” less ON AVERAGE lift then what I outlined above. As a result they lean more toward adding on a pair of our ¼” top plate spacer to gain ½” more lift from the coils. This is not something that is much of an option with the 5100’s as they incorporate the spacer to correct the lean whereas the OME struts utilize the OME trim packer for lean.

Outside of all of this, one thing that does stand out to me is this "I do plan on adding extra weight later on down the road." Depending on the long term plan for the truck the OME kit could be a better route since you can run the OME 886 coils with them over the 5100's which we don't recommend doing.

That's copy and pasted directly from a message that Marie sent me. I don't want to take credit for writing it. But yeah, she really knows her stuff. It helped me a lot when I chose my setup. I ended up with OMEs all around with 887's because I dont have any exra weight but wanted the option to go 886's in the future if I add a steel bumper. She really emphasized that the Bilsteins shouldn't be used with the 886's. If I hadn't got my AAL for free, I would have gotten the Dakar leaf pack and Bilstein B110's for extra droop in the rear. I'm still planning on doing that in the future.

Just installed 886s on 5100s a couple of weeks ago on @Vostraz truck. You should message him and get his feedback on that setup. Whatever setup you choose get the shocks/coils preassembled. That's the worse part of the whole job. With that parrt down you caqn do the front in an hour. If changing UCAs add another hour. Swapping on new leaf springs is faster then AALs but that's not bad.

I think im going to go with the full OME kit from HS. (https://www.headstrongoffroad.com/s...mu_Kit_w/_Dakar_Leaf_Pack_-_2016__Tacoma.html). So much info my head is spinning. I read that its not advisable to run the billys with OME springs.

Edit: Another concern with the extended rear shocks: consider extending your rear brake lines.

I have some concern with the rear extended shocks. I suggest new/taller bump stops.

Do you have a covered (out of sun/rain) place to work?

As to AAL or Dakars. Don’t be cheap. Get what you want now. Go big or go home.

Break the work down into doable bites. For example a bumper and winch was 2+ days of work for me. There is disassembly, cutting and electrical work. Have you planned this out? Got cables pre-assembled? Are you adding a switch?

The coilovers, installing the coil on the shock is something I did not want to tackle. Suggest having a shop do it. I did the fronts one day and the rears another day.

Thank You. I keep going back and forth on wheels. I’ve gouged the S%^&% out of my stock wheels going over rocks. It would kill me to put 1 or 2 thousand in wheels and scratch them up.
