Are you lifted, lowered? Are you a clean af pavement queen or a do you like to play in the dirt with them rowdy 4x4s?

    Let’s see them modded 4x2s.

No mods yet for me, but I have my eye on some RRW wheels. Just need to decide on what lift and tire size I want.

4x2 rejoice in sky high lifts and easier LT suspension.

Have owned toyota trucks since 1977. All have been 2X4’s. Never had a need for 4X4. Used mainly for Home Depot, dump, nursery runs and occasional hauling things for friends and family. Had a shell on my 1980 as I went on my son’s Boy Scout outings and didn’t want to sleep on the ground.

I used to be a 4x4 guy, but no longer need it. My current truck is a stock 4x2, and it more than meets my needs.

If I was a song writer, I'd write a song, and it'd go something like this:

    I don't need a lift.
    I don't need over-sized tires.
    I don't need snazzy wheels.
I don't need to attract beautiful young women.

    Umm... oh yeah, I don't need 4x4...

Sorry, I'm just NOT much of a song writer...

But I do enjoy seeing how much time, money, and effort some folks put into their trucks, with tires, lifts, etc. just to look cool.
Nothing wrong with that. It ain't my money.

Then there's those that actually put the mods to use. I like those the best.

Ya'll Keep on keeping on !

    FWD? you mean 4x4?

A front wheel drive truck would not be fun to drive I imagine lol

I know just bustin his balls, normally FWD is used in reference to front wheel drive like RWD is to rear wheel drive.

I loved my 2x4 until I joined tacomaworld... JK.
But I do now plan on converting mine to 4x4 as this site has inspired me to do a lot of stuff I didnt do, nor activities I planned on when I first bought my Tacoma. Still upgrading and nowhere near done. But then again, does anyone ever "finish" building their tacoma?

Four wheel drive was originally called FWD. In fact, there was (is) a company called FWD.
4x4 is a more recent bastardization of it. Call it what you want. We'll know what you mean. :)

uhhh build a pre-runner duh. no need to worry about expensive axles, and more ground clearance
    [IMG]

...edit . it's not uncommon for 4x4 trucks to ditch their 4x4 in favor 4x2 = more capable front end setup for max travel and custom spindles.

When I had my old 4x4 TTB long travel ranger (full roll cage, 14" coil overs, 14 bypass shocks, air bumps ect...) I would almost never use the 4x4 off road. It was way more fun to fly over the woops vs crawling up some steep hill or rocks. Also in sand/dunes I almost never used 4x4 b/c the speed traveled is sufficient to move any where you like without getting stuck.

My thoughts exactly, I’m seeing all the fun camping and off-roading stuff people are doing. I want in on all that. Lol

Even though I live in Ohio I have never owned a 4 wheel drive vehicle. Always managed to get around. Learned a long time ago how to drive in the snow. Its keeping your momentum, looking way ahead and trying to avoid coming to a complete stop. My 2 wheel drive 17 Tacoma SR does pretty good with 300 pounds in the bed. All that chrome you guys sell on Tacoma World wound up here on my truck.gasser nats 2017 115.jpg gasser nats 2017 115.jpg

2wd for me. No major mods, just the little things that make it mine. The most dirt it has ever seen is when I have to back up to my side gate to get my trailer.

OK, so it's pretty much stock. Just like it came from the dealer.
